Commercial Description:
Cask (3.9%) & Bottled, filtered, Occasional;
A roasted barley aroma, a deep, dark colour and a smooth-yet-dry taste: all the hallmarks of an exquisite stout. We brew Dark Hare using a blend of dark roasted malts and an old fashioned (and rather famous) English hop called Fuggles. These fine ingredients, together with our brewers’ skill and diligence, have made this an impressive and seriously smooth stout. Made with wheat and barley malt.

Bottle. Small and quickly disappearing off-white head. Clear very dark red brown body. Mild coffee aroma, pretty sweet. A bit sour coffee flavour without much body. Low carbonation but a long coffee aftertaste.

Pours dark brown with a small head. Aroma is roasted malty with notes of coffee, caramel and fruits. Low carbonated mouthfeel. Not very bad actually. Bitter elements are nicely balanced. Could be worthwhile to try again.

50 cl bottle at Haket 23/4. Clear dark red, a little tan head with large bubbles. Sweet aroma with fudge and berries. A bit blank taste, with charcoal and something sweet. Low carb.

Cask at the Rake with Harrisoni and ChrisO & Reakt, 9th April 2008. Dark chocolate brown colour. Weak aroma, bland flavour and very thin in the mouth. Calling this a stout probably contravenes the Trade Descriptions Act.

Bottle. Not sure if this was a bad bottle or passed its date. Aroma of vinegar,very sweet. Deep brown appearance, almost black. No head whatsoever. Fruity flavour, sweet and slightly smoky. Hints of malt. Too sickly for me. Will have to rate again I feel.
