Commercial Description:
Cask (3.9%) & Bottled, filtered, Occasional;
A roasted barley aroma, a deep, dark colour and a smooth-yet-dry taste: all the hallmarks of an exquisite stout. We brew Dark Hare using a blend of dark roasted malts and an old fashioned (and rather famous) English hop called Fuggles. These fine ingredients, together with our brewers’ skill and diligence, have made this an impressive and seriously smooth stout. Made with wheat and barley malt.

Dark brown, thick beige head. Fluffy, malty chocolate aroma. Taste butterscotch, good chocolatey stuff with a long, well-balanced finish. Excellent.

Bottled@SBWF2008. Deep amber colour, mediumsized beigeish brown head. Aroma is caramel malts, quite sweet hops and some mild coffeeish notes. Flavour is pleasantly burned malts mixed with some dark bready hints and coffee. Also mild vanilla and dark fruits.

Bottle, from the Salamander in Bath. Dark brown pour with a decent dirty beige head. Strange husky buttery roast, unpleasant medicinal sweetness. Very light body, thin coffee and caramel sweetness, dry walnuts. A nice teeth-coating hop finish. An interesting sort of "I’ll do it my way" to this beer, and I suspect in the cask it’s much nicer. As is, lot of flavor but kind of a mess.

Bottled. Dark brown. Brief and small off-white head. Pretty roasted and salty aroma. Dry cocoa and vanilla in the flavour. A bit thin.

(Bottle) Pours dark brown to black. The aroma is smooth roasted with tones of creamy dark chocolate and some coffee. Light caramelly. Tiny smoked. Hint of vanilla powder, dark berries and dark fruits. The flavour is light to medium roasted with notes of dark chocolate and mild coffee. Spicy and grassy hops in the background. The mouthfeel is soft and smooth with a light to medium dry finish. Medium malty and light to medium hoppy. Medium bodied.
