A rich aroma of hops and malt develops a full texture in the mouth. It has a long, deep, bitter-sweet finish. Without doubt an exceptional best bitter.

Ingredients: Maris Otter pale malt. Challenger and East Kent Goldings hops.

Distinct aroma of paint - not nice. Also looks insipid and flat in the glass. Taste is pleasant, sweet, a little bland. Nothing really to recommend it - and it smells horrible.

500ml bottle, chilled, poured into a pint glass at home. Attractive clear golden amber colour; minimal head; sweet, malty aroma with a hint of marmalade; predominantly caramel palate with a sweet finish. Not much bitterness and lacking depth, but sessionable nonetheless.

0.5l bottle. Copper color with quickly disappearing head. Aroma is malty with toffee, caramel and earthy notes. Taste is malty with caramel and light bitterness. Medium body and soft carbonation. Overall it’s good beer.

500ml bottle. Clear amber with minimal off-white head, disappearing rapidly. Aroma of sweet malt, caramel, toffee. Taste is the same, initially sweet with a mildly bitter finish. Actually quite well balanced, sessionable. Light-medium body, texture and carbonation. Easy drinking though nothing special.

Bottle at Claire and Tom’s. Amber with a thin cream head. Mild floral aroma. The taste is citrus and floral over grainy malt. Watery. Average.

500ml bottle from Asda. Pours clear amber with a minimal white head. Aroma is toffee, malt. Taste is toffee, a little metal, sweet up front, very minor bitterness at the finish. Not really a lot going on.

I liked the aroma, it’s not a style of beer that makes it to NZ that often. Poured well, nicely british bitter dark. Sort of a head and some lacing in the glass. Easy everyman drinking beer that has no rough aged or memorable moments but would sit well for a few in a session I recon.

Bread and pudding beer. Not my thing,. Not sure why this beer is in nearly every supermarket, but if everyone tries it once they’ve sold shit loads I suppose. Rubbish

Dark amber ale, nutty biscuity flavours with orange. Smoky aftertaste not very pleasant. Not really sure about this one, not an ale you want a few of but quite complex and difficult to like

Bottle from Co-op. Pours mid brown with frothy white head. Aroma of biscuits, bread and apples. Taste round with pear and rye. Solid ale, very drinkable but with enough depth of flavour.
