COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Special for J D Wetherspoon festival - October/November 2009.
This new, straw-coloured beer, brewed especially for this JDW beer festival, has a predominantly citrus character, with malt and wheat flavours and a quenching burst of fruit and spiciness.

Tasted this in The Esquire House, Glasgow in November 2009. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear pale straw in colour with a thin white head. Strong aromas of coriander and nutmeg vie with yeasty bread and banana. Thin but fruity mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts give a wide range of flavours with pink bubblegum, overipe banana and soft highland toffee are in there. Slight dusty floral hops for a short instant and then a sweet whack of sultanas, apples and honeydew melon come in at the long refreshingly sweet finish. An excellent and highly complex beer which reminded me of a weak Delirium Tremens. Fantastic stuff.

A Mes rate. Cask at Baker St. ’Sporks.
Slightly hazy gold with a thin white head. Plenty of vanilla and citrus with a faint peaty note in the finish. Rather dull but very drinkable

Cask in the alfread herring. Alround rating: Thin wheat and caramel malt, orange fruityness, fairly sweet and estery. On the sweetside of balance. Alright.

Handpulled cask at JDW Old St. Hazy gold with a dense white head. An interesting attempt at a german style wheat beer. I suspect that there is not too much wheat involved, but there is an undeniable spiceyness and the german hops make this beer very different from our run of the mill golden ales. Good effort.

Cask at Bankers Draft (JDW), Bedford, in ’Spoons BF ’09. Copper orange with a small white head. Faint spice and clove aroma. Wheat and sweet banana in the taste. Also some sourness. Slight dry finish. Some say this is not the genuine article, but I have to say I enjoyed it.

Cask, William Wygston, Wigston. Golden with a small white foam. Aromas are wheat and citrus with caramel and cream. Flavours are caramel and gentle spices with bitter lemon. Some toffee and pear with yeast and some nutty, herbal notes. Decent.

Cask handpull at County Hotel, JDW, Ashford. Very hazy gold, no head. Banana estery aroma. It’s not as bad as I feared. However, the Germans have nothing to fear from this. NOt enough wheat for a kick off, still trying to be an ale rather than a full on wheat beer. It does make the usual mistake of trying to fall between 2 stools. Not a golden ale not a full on hefeweizen.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms, Bristol 02/11/09. Golden in colour with next to no head. Fruity, citrus and yeast aroma. Flavour had the bananas and cloves, with some grain and caramel, before a dry finish. Unusual, enjoyable drinking.
