3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle: the commercial description is spot on - a golden beer, traces of white head;hoppy aroma; citrus taste; bitter finish. My favorite style, and an excellent example.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: MAY 8, 2007 Well this is a re rate and I must say I got it wrong last time or a dodgy bottle. Extremely clear golden colour. Thin white fizzy head. Citrus fruit flavours with a bitter finish. Clean taste. Over still the same score as last time but total better. Improved.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Good light colour, but head is nought but a patchy thin layer of white bubbles. A big fruity/hoppy nose, very appealing! Fairly full bodied with a powerful hop character, the slightly sweet malt is subdued but still gives a good overall balance. A nice pint, but let down by poor head retention. Asda,bottle..obviously!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled. A light golden coloured beer with a nice white good sized head. The aroma is fruity, hoppy and a little soapy/shampoo and toffee. The taste is quite bitter with good citrus fruit. Doesn’t taste wonderfully fresh and has a soapy charcter and some more toffee or maybe even diacetyl, but still pleasantly drinkable.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: FEB 21, 2007 Bottle picked up at Darts Farm, Topsham, Nr Exeter, Devon 12-11-06 had the same evening. Poured golden in colour, lovely fresh nose with aroma vanilla notes this is a crisp, fresh hoppy beer, with great fruity citrus flavours particularly grapefruit zinginess Loz chose this purely for the hare on the front, but she chose one of my favourite beers of the week.
Cask conditioned gravity dispense at Merton Winter Beer Festival 17-02-07. Also great in cask format as one would expect nice light golden colour, plenty of flavour in this fresh fruity bitter excellent. also 3.9 in cask

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask (handpump) at The Hop Poles, Bath. More pale amber than gold in colour. Loose, but lasting, white head. Touches of fruit in the aroma. Smooth and soft on the palate. Restrained flavour with hints of citrus. Pleasant enough but certainly didn’t have the zing that others have remarked upon. I’d guess think this was probably a bit tired, which is not really acceptable when served in the brewery’s own pub. Since its now available in bottle (albeit filtered) I’ll probably get the chance to re-rate; its hard to find on draught.

Very pale gold with a frothy white head. Sour, lemony aroma. Citric taste with sharp bitterness. Very good.

4.1 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: FEB 28, 2007 Nov, 2006 Filtered bottle. A very satisfying and stimulating beer. Quite clean and well behaved, yet full of flavour. Good hop burst, scintillating, citric tangy fresh, yet with a good rub of earthy dust. All well supported by a juicy yet almond dry malt base. A good job well done. [4.3]
Feb, 2007 Filtered bottle. Compared with Bluebird, Chimera IPA, Rolling Hitch. Balanced and playful. Good marriage of citric hops and pale malt. Lovely hops. The totality is a little too clean and filtered, though the healthy dose of English hops gives this a pleasant earthy edge. A damn fine brew. [3.9]

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
500ml bottle from Asda. Old gold/copper colour with lasting rocky off white head. Attractive hop aroma. Quite intense for a UK beer, bit of sherbert, woody grapefruit. Malts are pretty good, some juicyness, but this beer is all about the grapefruit hops. Really rather nice. Something like an APA. On of the best aromas of any UK bottle beer IMO. I can see why others have rated it so highly. I like the intense hops and balancing malts.
