I live 2 minutes away from the Bull and Bladder where it is brewed and regularly drink this exuisite ale.
Straw-coloured and a refreshing bitterness and all round excellent ale. Have tried in both draught and bottled and both are great

We have many great ales within the Black country / Dudley area but this is one of my overall favourites probably because there’s not than many places that sell it. A dark Golden ale in colour which sinks like velvet with a kind of dry hoppy after taste. Not a strong ale as it only 4.3% but if anybody is interested in trying this my tip is to try the New Inn Pub in Wordsley as they seem to look after it better than anybody else.

As I live in Kidderminster we are not that far away from several pubs that serve Bathams. My Wife and I both love the taste of this full flavoured bitter.

Hand pulled at the Old Moseley Arms, Birmingham. Wow, a fantastic old skool Bitter! This is a legend in the West Midlands and by all accounts it sells out whenever it appears as a guest. Also popular is the crawl of Bathams pubs in the Black Country. Anyway, this is fantastic stuff, beautifully balanced and refreshing, with a clean blend of nutty malt, fresh and gentle hops and palate cleansing capabilities. Could easily have been a 5, after a hard session of cricket practice, but I’ll try and remain objective.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 luvcasks (178) - USA - JUL 1, 2006
UPDATED: MAY 26, 2008 Aroma: Delicately floral with a nice restrained malt (On cask the hop nose is more pronounced) interestingly if the beer is cool... a delicate mineral note comes thru
Appearance: Brilliant Golden, with a nice fluffy white head which dissipates to a thin layer
Flavor: When cool, the first taste is hop forward, when pumped at the right temp, a very delicious soft malt complexity with some soft fruits is there which is followed by a wonderful hop flavor (spicy and grassy) (Kent Golding’s?)
Palate: Medium body, finish is restrained dryness with some fruit in the long finish
Overall: WOW! what a fantastic bitter.. Perfectly balanced thoroughly enjoyable when pulled from a good stillage. The bottle is great but still far from the cask... packaging can be iffy I have had some bottles with heat damage!
May 2008 - A hand-carried sample - was spectacular - the balance of this beer with the lovely lovely hop flavor is wonderful. - I wish we could have this on tap in the US
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 woodruff (16) - ENGLAND - MAY 9, 2003
Sampled on draught in several of the Bathams pubs. A fine, golden coloured specimen perfect for quenching a summer thirst. The slightly sweet after taste is not everyone's cup of tea but a finer example of an ale brewed in the preserved Black Country tradition is hard to find.
4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 8, 2012
I have drunk this beer in the brewery tap and other well known Black Country Real Ale pubs, always cask. I was very pleased and surprised to find it in a shop window (Tanner’s, Bridgnorth, Shropshire).
Brown 500ml bottle, best before Feb 2008, drank April 2007.
Poured into a sraight sleeve pint glass (what else would you use?).
Pale amber, light for an English bitter, but it is known for its brightness and lightness, the small white left before I got my lips to it.
The aroma was very floral, freashly cut grass and hops.
Lovelly, wonderful, easy drinking bitter-cum-thirstquenching-quaffable-ale. I liked it (a lot).
Slight fizz to it, but this is a very, very good, the tastes stay and tickle your tonsels.
A fine bottled version of a great West Midlands (Black Country) bitter.

On cask at the congress, longton. Pours golden with decent white head. Caramel, hops, this is stunning for a best bitter.

UPDATED: FEB 15, 2012 Handpull in Black country. One of my favourite best bitter.Dark golden colour with a white head. Pleasant fruity and hoppy nose. A fine malt background in the flavour with nice hoppy and fruity notes.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 dnas2 (705) - Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND - OCT 22, 2006
UPDATED: MAY 12, 2008 (Cask, April 2008 - Rerate) Clear straw appearance. Hoppy with biscuit malts in the scent. Bitter with a dry end and nice malty roast aromas. Is this really the same beer as the one I had before?!
(Bottled, October 2006) Amber with little head. Toffee scent. Some hop and citrus but mainly a sickly caramel aroma. Smooth but not to my liking. Ar6 Ap3 Fl4 Pa3 O10
