Cask at the Vine. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy white head and some clingy lace. The aroma is roasted malt, light smoke, light cream. The flavour is moderate light liqourice malt with a light, smooth, woody hop, nutty sweet malt palate. Light to medium bodied with soft carbonation. The best mild I ever had.

Pint at the Britannia, Upper Gornal. Light to mid-brown, translucent. Weak aroma of berry, malt, cola nut. Taste is lovely. Sugary sweet with a slight fruity bitter aftertaste... creamy mouthfeel. A very good traditional mild. Donít expect fireworks but itís good all the same.

Cask@foxandgrapes, Pensnett, Brierley Hill. Brown with medium beige head that slowly disapates. Aroma of sweet malts. Taste is malty with caramel and a touch nutty. Dry finish. I am a Bathams fan and consider this one of the best milds around.
