This was OK and fit most of the style points. Mild burnt sugar aroma. Dark molasses brown with virtually no head to the point I was worried it went flat. It didn’t, but the carbonation was low and the weight somewhat heavy. It coated the mouth and felt syrupy. More burnt sugar and molasses flavors with very little hops presence. Decent but needs some fine tuning.

From bottle. Expected dark pour with tan head. Fairly clean and light for the style, which for me is okay. Lacks the smokiness and boozy undertones that is often associated with the style. Not bad, but still not my thing.

A - An aggressive pour yields a cola colored brown body with a tight-knit creamed head that forms a dense collar and retains pretty well. S - Heavy caramel, toffee and a good dose of chocolate. Hints of wood, mushrooms, and earthy peat. Acidic grapes and some alcohol come out when swirled. T - Thin dark caramel, raw brown sugar, cocoa powder, some tart artificial fruit flavor becomes more pronounces as it warms up. Has a sugary boozy finish. M - Lighter body for the style, low carbonation, wet boozy finish. Started off good with the appearance and aroma but the flavor was less than impressive. Too much raw sweetness and the flavors didn’t seem to meld together. The alcohol just stood out like a sore thumb while some of the ingredients seemed artificial. This only became worse as it warmed. The beer pours a dark brown color with red highlights and a small cream-colored head. The aroma is full of caramel and dark fruit, with a good dose of alcohol mixed in. There is also a hint of chocolate in the aroma. The flavor has a little bit of peat smoke, with a good amount of toffee and caramel. I get a little dark fruit but the malt and smoke notes come through the strongest. There is also a little bit of alcohol in the flavor. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Pours almost black with minimal cream head. Aroma of cocoa, coffee, dark fruit and vanilla. Taste chocolate, toffee, coffee, some fruitiness and wood. Mostly sweet some bitterness

650 ml. bottle, shared with multiple others at brew-club. Pours a thin, short lived ivory head, over a clear, light brown (SRM 20) body....nose is treacle, dried fruits including raisin, fig, plum, hints of brown sugar...taste is raisin, plum, fig, light smoke, hints of brown sugar, with minimal bitterness on the finish....mouth feel thick, sticky, alcohol hidden, carbonation low. This is a typical Wee Heavy. The malt back bone dominates, but is well managed, with great complexity in both aromas and flavors. BJCP 8/3/15/4/7
