Black pour with a tan head. The aroma is very heavy on the chocolate. The flavor is the same, but I also get a bit of vanilla with some tart cherries. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark brown/tan color. Smells nice: roasty, spicy, chocolatey, some fruit too. Cherries more on the palate, joining baker's chocolate before finishing dry. Not bad, not good.

Black color with tan sheen. Nice chocolate, vanilla, medium roast, cherry juice aromas. light body, average carbonation. Semi-sweet chocolate flavors with vanilla, and mild cherry--light ashy finish----not bad.

Bottled. Pours a dark ruby with a small tan head. Aroma smells like bad waxy chocolate and cherry, reminiscent of the bad cordials. Flavor took me a second, but as soon as I recognized it I could not get anything else......straight cherry pipe tobacco! Interesting, not bad, worth picking up.

650 ml. Opaque ebony with a small covering of cream. Aroma of semi-sweet chocolate, cookie dough, lactose and graham cracker. Tastes of dark chocolate, lightly tart cherry, burnt toast and rich vanilla. Medium body has a little too much fizz and flares up in the mouth. To the rich-sweet side, but the mildly harsh roast and fruit acidity provide some balance.

8/1/13. 22oz bottle - thanks, Brent! Almost black pour, more of a deep dark brown, with a really nice big (not overwhelming) tan head that lasts. Huge chocolate on the nose, too much, almost a bit artificial, a small dash of cherry. The flavor, especially the linger, reminds me of a burnt símores... burnt marshmallow, chocolate, and vanilla, I guess. A touch of cherry comes through as a fruitiness but not much otherwise. Lingering burnt, ashy aspect. Not bad.

From the bottle: itís dark chocolate brown color with 2 fingers of tan, fairly well-sustained foam. Smells of coffee and some pit fruits, some chocolate. Itís a bittersweet porter. Itís roasty and a bit creamy with a tart finish. The cherries are a bit lost on me, I guess theyíre mostly in the finish. Itís full bodied and hold up well with a little warming, but it doesnít seem to really open up much.

Has a traditional porter taste plus cherries and chocolate. Pretty good porter. Would buy again.

yikes... this thing out there. nose is just what it says; chocolate malts with deep cherry but with a boozy plastic-y note that is a bit off putting. taste emphasizes the extremely roasty chocolate with a grimey mouthfeel. a bit all over the place and over bearing. hard pass.
