500ml clear glass bottle from Beers of Europe. A good malty premium bitter. Nice chocolate malts balanced by integrated hops. A pleasant, clean, drinkable beer. Nothing exciting, but nothing offensive either. Filtered.

Cask (as Cheltenham SPA). Deep golden/amber colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is caramel and crystal malts with some mild riped fruits, wood and mild herbal notes. Flavour is similar along with some resiny and grassy bitterness. A bit mouthdrying as for the palate.

(Cask at Angleterre, 20111031) The beer poured amber and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, molasses and sulphur. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were malts, sulphur, hint of smoke, hops, molasses and bitterness. Aftertaste had malts, smoke and bitterness. Nice bitter and even the suplhur wasn’t disturbing.

Cask at O’Connels, Tampere. Hazy amber color. Fruity and caramelly with wine gums and fruity bitterness. Tannic hops in the palate. Nice old time bitter ’bitter’ as they used to be in the nineties.

Cask (gravity) @ 27th Pigs Ear Beer and Cider Festival 2010, at The Round Chapel in Hackney, London, England

Clear medium to dark amber colour with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, nutty, toffee. Flavor is moderate sweet and light moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20101201]

Bottled. A rich brown beer with a tiny off-white ring of head. A fruity malty beer with bits of toat and coffee in the mouth. Aroma has leather and booze. A bit of bread too. Pretty decent.

Cask (gravity dispense) at Pigs Ear Beer Festival, day 2 on 1 December 2010. Amber colour. A decent enough best bitter but nothing particularly remarkable. More malt - slightly fruity, with touches of caramel - than hops. Perfectly respectable, but this festival had an over-abundance of middle-of-the-road bitters and there was nothing to particularly make this one stand out from the crowd.

Amber colour with a thin head, dark chocolate aroma and taste, it was a bit over carbonated for me.

Pigs Ear. Clear brown beer. No real head on it. Toffeeish malt. A little dried fruit and tangy hops. Okay.
