(BBE 5/2011) Dark red colored with brown hints, little vanishing yellow head. Rich sweet and fruity, caramelly aroma with some nutty, slightly licoricy note, rather sweet one. Medium bodied. Flavor is also on sweet side, licorice dominating, thin alcohol comes up in lasting, sweet caramelly aftertaste.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Koelschtrinker (7037) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - JUN 5, 2011

Delicious malty taste, the alcohol is well concealed. In the central part quite spicy for a Doppelbock, the aftertaste is slightly too weak.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Allen (2469) - SWITZERLAND - NOV 25, 2010
Bottled 33cl. Courtesy of jaghana. I just realised the brewery isn’t located in the Ulm I know but in a small place very close to french border (Strasbourg). What strikes me first about this beer is the luscious malt presence in the nose and the beautiful clear amber appearance with lovely bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass. Caramel and raisins throughout. Lovely malt profile. Nutty and smooth. Good late bitterness which introduces a finish which makes you eager to take another sip. The alcohol is very nicely hidden by the way. A delicious and flawless Doppelbock. A drink on a cold winter’s night. Thanks a lot jaghana!
