1.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20 TheCellarer (20) - Tromsø, NORWAY - MAY 8, 2012
UPDATED: MAY 21, 2012 500 ml bottle shared at Beer session XIX in Tromsø 220312. Sorry to the other participants, as the "bezalkoholisks" part was discovered too late. But being non-alcoholic is still not an adequate reason for the overall vileness of this brew. Body is dark brown with absolutely no head or lacing. Pours like something humans should not drink. Odour of worts makes it resemble wort beer more than any porter I have ever tasted. Flavour is extremely sweet and candy-like, not unlike King of Denmark drops. Sticky and unpleasant palate. If Aldaris Porteris is the heaven of Baltic porters then surely this must be hell.

500ml bottle, thanks to Elisabeth and Stefan for sharing. Bubbly surface to a mahogany coloured body. Just plain smell of wort. Oversweet malt-extract in flavour, some sticky sweet, brown sugar as well. No way (Tromsø, 22.03.2012).

Bottled@The 1st Vaasa CS/ES beer session (thanks MM). Hazy brown colour with small beigeish brown head. Aroma is quite much mash mixed with coca cola. Flavour quite much the same with ryebread added. Tastes just like dark tablebeer.

1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 estpiwo (985) - ESTONIA - MAY 4, 2009
Bottle. This malt beverage is not real kvass. In real kvass must be some % of alcohol (0,5-0,8 %). When I was little boy, my father brewed homemade beer and sweety malt extract with water was so good. And this beverage is malt extract with water, not beer, not kvass. My points are only for good times in childhood.

Dear Knut - this isn’t a porter, nor is it pretending to be - it clearly states ’malt drink’ on the label, and is made from the same malt extract that you make a kvass from. Big malt-loaf aroma, even down to the raisins. Sweet and a bit watery, but pretty refreshing. Taste follows the aroma. Of course it’s a little sticky, but what did you expect from a modern kvass? It’s pretty good as modern kvass goes too.

You should give them credit for trying to make a porter without alcohol, I suppose, so it gets top marks for apperance. But this was a ghastly beer.
Horribly sweet. You can feel there is an attempt to make an initation of a porter here, but it has not worked out. Have a kvass instead!
