2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Organic dark beer. Sweet classic dark mild ale. The taste is much lighter than the 5.5 which is given in degrees. I would highly recommend

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled 31/08/12. An almost black coloured beer with no head. Pretty damn sweet. Lots of fruit in the nose with tons of caramel in the mouth. Bready yeasty notes too. A little fossil fuel. Oversweet and fruity and tasting stronger than it is. Not a style of beer I dislike.

Glass bottle. Aroma weak, but a little yeast is felt. Carbonation is quite lively, taste is weak, but u can feel that dunkel taste (not a lover). Some bitterness in the aftertaste.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Baltic Branch Dover. Clear brown, medium head. Roasty aroma. Medium-bodied with lots of malt and an incredibly delicious roasted malt character. Roasted malt dominates, there are also hints of dark chocolate and nuts. Delicious stuff!

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle from Wisla, Granby St, Leicester. Pours a sandy brown, with fading froth top. Smells sweetly malty. Not massively tasty. Toffee, breakfast cereal, some nuttiness, perhaps a smidge of spanner. Average verging on poor. Lacks even the burn to go with it’s strength.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
500ml bottle from a grocery on the Narborough Rd. Clear chestnut with a flat, receding beige collar. Complex, deeply malty, brown-sugared aroma absolutely begging a sip; proper NE English brown ale, Curly Wurly, HP sauce on plums/nectarines. Never tried either. Doesn’t disappoint flavour-wise; soggy fig, milk chocolate-coated caramel, molasses, just a wisp of finishing smoke, cocktail cherry. Then an Everton mint sucked to the centre; mint freshness on the tongue. Enjoyed every sip. Lovely rounded dunkel with a wealth of sweet malty flavours as equally at home in Germany or England as Latvia.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle, from an ethnic food store in Grimsby. Red brown, thin shortlived off white head and low condition. Pleasant sweet caramel, roasted nuts and bread in the nose, mostly sweet in the mouth with burnt toffee and caramel dominant although there is some background bitterness. Some roasted coffee bean dryness emerges in the finish but still sweet caramel has the upper hand.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap in Riga at the Ķiploku Krogs (2010-05-25). Clear copper colour with a decent beige head. Sweet and malty aroma with caramel. A bit to sweet for my taste, but it went well with the garlic.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Intense aroma of honey on wholemeal bread. Tastes strongly of toffee, with lots of caramel malt coming through - good caramelisation. Slightly minerally, ionic in nature, which works well with the other flavours. Good carbonation, which provides a nice mouthfeel.
