Bottle from the Turkish store in Newark, DE. Very different from any other NA beer I’ve had, owing to the presence of wheat in addition to barley in the malt. Thankfully, no other additives. Pours a clear pale yellow with a very slighty, but foamy head. Carbonation is relatively flat on drinking. Fairly complex malt character, with the wheat evident. A little more sourness than most NA beers--reminiscent of the sourness in some American wheat beers. Light hops impart a pleasant bitterness. I want more hops. Slightly too sweet for me too. Slightly metallic finish. This one was intriguing, but it fell short of top-notch due to the unwanted sweet and sour flavors, the metallic finish, and the hops being too weak. Pleasant overall, but doesn’t seem to have the quality to back up the price (close to $9 a six-pack, making it compete with top-quality NA brews like Clausthaler, and I’d even take the much cheaper Buckler, which is also brewed in Holland, over this one).

Bottle from Sainsbury’s, Team Valley, Gateshead. Pale straw coloured with a large white foamy head. It has a very strong malty and toffee flavour with slight soapiness and a sugary and grassy finish. Excellent for a 0.0% ABV beer!

Can 355ml. Pours very clear pale yellow with low white head. Aroma and taste are of malt, corn, sugar. Very slight bitterness. Palate: Very light body. High carbonation. Overall: Not much to say. Not straight-up repulsive, but very watery.

Can 330 ml at an Deen supermarkt Zaandam. I’ve learned that you should not compared a alc free beer with a normal beer. By the lack of alcohol just can not have the same taste. I drink it very often as a delicious thirst quencher... my favorite !

UPDATED: AUG 28, 2014 Tasted years ago when it was still called Bavaria Maltbier (I’m not sure if the production method has remained the same). Regular, mousse-like, snow white foam, colour a cristal clear golden blonde. Sweetish, honeyish grainy nose with a bit of wheaty sourishness, as well as something reminiscent of plastic. Taste neutral, grainy, a bit metallic, sourish rather than sweetish (as would be more typical for the genre) with slight bitterness in the finish. Agreed that for this type of ’beer’ it still has some ’real’ beer taste, but that doesn’t make it an interesting product.

330 ml bottle. Clear golden body with a small white head. Aroma is one-dimensional caramel malt. Flavor is rather one-dimensional as well, almost like an unfermented malt drink. Anyway, it’s sweet caramel malt, bread, not much bitterness. Medium body and short, but sweet aftertaste. Not bad, but definitively nothing exiting either.

33cl bottle @ De Clown, Leende. Nice malty aroma with a bit too much sweetness. Very average beer but still delicious.

Bottle @ Papsø. Pours pale yellow with a tiny white head. Aroma is mild apple, hay, cereal, corn and paper. Taste is light sweet and very light bitter. Body is very light, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. Finishes residual sugary sweet and watery.
