500ml Can bought on sale, which is never a good sign, is it? You can tell just by pouring it how heavy and syrupy it is. Very nice head though, thick and inviting, nice clear brown colour. Smells a lot like laundry detergent, maybe some malts in there, but it’s like I’m about to suck down some Tide or something. Flavour is syrup, syrup, and more syrup. Way too heavy and sugary for any kind of "beer" resemblance. Really, stay away from this one - especially since it’s called an 8.6 but actually only has 6.5% alcohol! What’s up with that?

Can 500ml. Holy crap this is sweet. Looks like a lager, smells like a lager, tastes like sugar, baked in sugar with a sugar topping, with a dash of caramel and sugar on the side. Really, way too sweet..

50cl can @ home shared with Thompson. Clear yellow / golden color, full white head that disappears almost instantly but leaves a small lacing. Smell malts and -wtf, is my nose playing tricks on me??- lightly some hops! Taste malts and way too sweet! Just a slight hint of hops remaining, but it’s completely dominated by the overpowering sweetness. Low carbo, low body.

On the 17th Jan 2012 I wrote this: This is brewed for the French market I believe: anyway that’s where I bought a pack of them for christmas guests and friends: I saved this one to review. 25cl brown, throw away bottle, poured into a ’Palm Special’ bulbous tulip glass: lovely clear golden body as you’d expect from the name. The head was a proud crown of white foam that set the glass off very nicely. The smell was yeasty with some sweet end molasses in there too. The taste was also sweet malts, the hops not getting a look in until the mouth begins to dry. The alcohol content is easily found and I have a feeling this could give a mega hangover if you went heavy on it. Initially I thought this was a lovely lager (I have a sweet tooth) but as the tasting has progressed I’ve slowly turned against it: too sweet and lacks enough umph to contain the 6.5% alcohol. I have it’s brother at 7.9%ABV next, cooling and awaiting my review: hope I’m OK in the morning!

Export bottle of 250ml found in Sarajevo. Pours nicely rich with welcoming aroma of sharp hops and malts. This is a preofessional beer with the right boxes checked. But it is not my style ... Let’s us have a style that is a strong beer but not just because of alc. A diversity of intents about what we can present as strong lagers. Some for the holidays, some to taste better with loads of additional ingredients. They all fall apart somehow, though you can see that Bavaria 8.6 Gold is a good beer. But id does not do anything new or passionately. Still lovely but wish it did something the surprised even one of us.

50 cl.can @ home. Golden colour with a firm white head. Yeasty sweet smell. The taste is sweet, sweet and sweet. As you can imagine, it’s way too sweet. Aftertaste is sweet and round.
