Mild aroma with slightly acidic malt, and no hops. Extremely sweet and quite artificially strawberry-fruity flavor with toffeeish malt, and reasonably hidden alcohol underneath. Sticky-sugary, surprisingly thin palate with medium carbonation. The Dutch prefer sweeter beers, but I don’t think very many of them can actually stand this alcopop-like crap. berkshirejohn (1808), Bracknell, Berkshire, England

| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Sep 26, 2006 [canned] Dark amber colour. Large head. Aroma is sweet with notes of marzipan and alcohol. Flavour is very sweet, the alcohol is fairly well hidden. Not as bad as expected but still a shitty beer. I think "Red Bavaria" is the right name. Contains wheat, a novelty comparing to the tipical red ones I know. The wheat and the shape/material made me curious. The smell right from the bottle is affected by the aluminium, but this effect fortunately disappears when the liquid is in a glass (different from some cheap cans). Fast disappearing small off-white head. The palate is closer to watery. Few gas. The flavour is very constant: from the beggining to the end it reveals a satisfatory mix of whiskey malts and a few of rust (very good besides the strange it may sounds), and doesn’t change too much, just gets stronger untill the finish. Bitter-sweet. It disapointed me regarding to the wheat it contains, nothing really noticeable. However the flavor is not as intense as I would like. The aroma is even weaker. Anyway the finish lasts for a good while. The appearence is clear, red close to dark orange.
That’s a special red beer, but the overall result is good, not extraordinary comparing to red beers. Anyway that’s still a recommendable beer, and I would drink another very happilly. harrisoni (6776), Ashford, Kent, England

Some toffee and red berry malt aroma. Not unpleasant aroma. Sweet, sickly alcohol in mouth doesn’t over dominate, but it is there. Even some bitterness on end. Malty im outh, but no depth. It’s a strong, alcoholic, red malt lager. It’s fine. dwyerpg (2529), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 1/5 | 13/20 | May 31, 2006 Smells a little of metal but mostly caramel. Nice red color but poor head. First taste is nice, caramel like a doppelbock. Really the finish is disappointing. The alcohol is far too present. Really brings the beer down in the end.
