Canned. Amber colour, mediumsized off-white foamy head. Aroma is caramel malts, some mild alcohol and grass. Flavour is at first caramel malty and slightly alcoholic. After swallowing comes the horrible backfire of all kinds of weird flavours. A rather twisted brew.

Canned. Thanks to Dorqui for this one! Clear red in colour, minor white head. the aroma is fresh and malty. The flavour is complex... The taste, as you have he beer in your muth is pleasant, as s the taste whilst swallowing int, the aftertaste is something diffrent... Not positive....

500 ml can, best before 03-2009. Before I start this, I have to admit my bias. This was recently added to the shelves of the NSLC, my local government monopoly liquor store and essentially the only place to buy beer in the province with a few exceptions. It joins its disaster of a big brother, Bavaria 8.6, on the LC’s general list. At the same time, the NSLC in its infinite wisdom, de-listed, therefore rendering unavailable in the province, the following: Orval, Duvel, Chimay Red, and Westmalle Tripel. That’s right. They delisted Orval for Bavaria Red. Which brings me to my bias. I don’t just want to hate this. I want to loathe it with every fibre of my being. So I’ve been careful - serving it chilled, reasonably fresh from the store, proper glass - so no excuses for the Bavaria folks. Certainly not bad looking. Mahogany colour with a fully diminishing fizzy and creamy off-white head. Berry fruit, light fusel, and light solvent aroma. As it warms the fusels and solvent grow stronger. Going off the rails already. Sugary sweet, some cherry and plum flavours, but a definite backgorund solvent or acetone presence and a light fuselly finish. Medium bodied, smooth but oily mouthfeel. Well, it wasn’t evil incarnate - it was just Bavaria 8.6 with brewer’s caramel to hide the nastiness.

UPDATED: NOV 20, 2007 Looks like cherryade, smells like Dandelion and Burdock, lots and lots of alcohol, cake and caramel. Even a sniff of wood. Keeps a fluffy head of suds well. Sugary and cherryish with a warming hit of booze, apple bubblegum and a strange astringent chemical sweetener-like aftertaste. Somewhere between a barley wine, an alcopop and out-and-out trampjuice. Hard to drink, better than expected. Smelt promising, but I just couldn’t do it to myself...

It’s a very sweet beer, with cherry notes. Full body. I don’t think it is overly carbonated as reported in previously ratings.

wunderbier (1434) - Tampere, FINLAND - OCT 25, 2007
UPDATED: OCT 30, 2007 Clear and deep amber to brown hued body with a smallish, off-white, foamy head. Aroma quite a bit sweeter than I was expecting; lots of caramel, treacle and candied fruits. Hops are mild by comparison, a bit floral, and there’s a distinguishable parchment odor. Flavour is as sweet as expected, lots of caramel and bread, with a light cherry acidity. Finishes bright, with some snappy cherries. Medium to full body with a watery--almost creamy--texture, and forceful, prickling carbonation. Other than the papery/leathery/ink thing going on in the aroma, there’s not any great flaws in my helping of this beer. Though, yeah, it’s really simple, too sweet and overly carbonated for my tastes. 50cl bottle, Leffe goblet, bbe 02-2009.

from a metal "bottle" - poured with a small head, but does have lace. Color is brown with some red highlights. Aroma is very malty and sweet, but picked up a fleeting waft of bleach. Ditto for taste. Distinct alcohol warming. Unusually thin for the sweetness. Two dimensional. Well carbonated tho. Sweet finish.

Canned. Ruby coloured. Notes of candy and berries in the aroma. Very sweet flavour. Thin and artificial with notes of metal and alcohol. Rather unpleasant.
