2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Canned. Clear redbrown color, thick head. Aroma of caramel malt, sugar, bit cookie. Taste is quite sweet, not as alcoholic as I expected, malty, and it is actually drinkable. I wouldnít buy it again probably, but it is not that bad.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Attractive thick head and lasting clump on dark red beer. Still smells like alcohol and malt liquor. Sweet malt and alcohol taste. The alcohol warming stats immediately. For the style very smooth. Still very very sweet, too much so. get a headache and get tired half way through.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Canned. Aroma has sugar and caramel malts, some fruits. Clear, red-brown coloured with a lasting, off-white head. Taste is sweet, sugary, fruity with raisins. Too sweet and sticky, but reasonable enjoyable. Did not expect that.

1.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20
Can, Legends Liquor Store, Richmond
Beautiful reddish-amber, nice carbo. Light head. Light caramel nose. Thick, sugary, caramelly with boozy undertone of cheap blended scotch. Harsh alcohol finish...and this is mixing with icing sugar cloying. Bleh.

1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Pours a bright red with a bleached white cap of decent froth. The aroma is fruity, albiet Iím not one to discern which fruit it is. Maybe some cherries? Itís pretty arbitrary. There is also some hay/grass/floral aroma that is tough to place. Tastes sweet, like the candied cherries, red pepper jelly.......its sweet and too much so for me. Cloying, and no fucking way Iím drinking this whole can. Liquid dessert gone wrong. Blearrg!

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Can from the LCBO. Actually looks pretty nice when first poured, with a vibrant red-copper colour and a medium-sized white cap of foam. The head quickly recedes, though, leaving a slightly scummy looking film of small bubbles on the top that isnít nearly as attractive. Aroma is quite sweet, verging on being cloying, with hints of artificial cherry. Sticky mouthfeel, and the flavour is exactly what the aroma suggests: cloyingly sweet off the top, with some cherry jam notes, and a building booziness in the finish. Not very good.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Can@Home. Raisin aroma with hints of cherry. Deep red color, beige head, good lace. Sweet, raisin, light bitter, sticky and very soft. Not complex I agree but not bad at all either. Quite pleasant to drink. All those giving such low ratings are probably prejudiced by the fact that itís Bavaria and in this horrible can. This is an ok beer! And not an European Strong Lager IMO.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Canned. Amber colour, mediumsized off-white foamy head. Aroma is caramel malts, some mild alcohol and grass. Flavour is at first caramel malty and slightly alcoholic. After swallowing comes the horrible backfire of all kinds of weird flavours. A rather twisted brew.

1.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
Canned. Thanks to Dorqui for this one! Clear red in colour, minor white head. the aroma is fresh and malty. The flavour is complex... The taste, as you have he beer in your muth is pleasant, as s the taste whilst swallowing int, the aftertaste is something diffrent... Not positive....

1.2 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
500 ml can, best before 03-2009. Before I start this, I have to admit my bias. This was recently added to the shelves of the NSLC, my local government monopoly liquor store and essentially the only place to buy beer in the province with a few exceptions. It joins its disaster of a big brother, Bavaria 8.6, on the LCís general list. At the same time, the NSLC in its infinite wisdom, de-listed, therefore rendering unavailable in the province, the following: Orval, Duvel, Chimay Red, and Westmalle Tripel. Thatís right. They delisted Orval for Bavaria Red. Which brings me to my bias. I donít just want to hate this. I want to loathe it with every fibre of my being. So Iíve been careful - serving it chilled, reasonably fresh from the store, proper glass - so no excuses for the Bavaria folks. Certainly not bad looking. Mahogany colour with a fully diminishing fizzy and creamy off-white head. Berry fruit, light fusel, and light solvent aroma. As it warms the fusels and solvent grow stronger. Going off the rails already. Sugary sweet, some cherry and plum flavours, but a definite backgorund solvent or acetone presence and a light fuselly finish. Medium bodied, smooth but oily mouthfeel. Well, it wasnít evil incarnate - it was just Bavaria 8.6 with brewerís caramel to hide the nastiness.
