Looks like cherryade, smells like Dandelion and Burdock, lots and lots of alcohol, cake and caramel. Even a sniff of wood. Keeps a fluffy head of suds well. Sugary and cherryish with a warming hit of booze, apple bubblegum and a strange astringent chemical sweetener-like aftertaste. Somewhere between a barley wine, an alcopop and out-and-out trampjuice. Hard to drink, better than expected. Smelt promising, but I just couldn’t do it to myself...

It’s a very sweet beer, with cherry notes. Full body. I don’t think it is overly carbonated as reported in previously ratings.

Clear and deep amber to brown hued body with a smallish, off-white, foamy head. Aroma quite a bit sweeter than I was expecting; lots of caramel, treacle and candied fruits. Hops are mild by comparison, a bit floral, and there’s a distinguishable parchment odor. Flavour is as sweet as expected, lots of caramel and bread, with a light cherry acidity. Finishes bright, with some snappy cherries. Medium to full body with a watery--almost creamy--texture, and forceful, prickling carbonation. Other than the papery/leathery/ink thing going on in the aroma, there’s not any great flaws in my helping of this beer. Though, yeah, it’s really simple, too sweet and overly carbonated for my tastes. 50cl bottle, Leffe goblet, bbe 02-2009.

Bottle of aluminum, 330 ml. Dark red coloration, with a reasonable beige head. Sweet. Notes of cherry. Nice beer!

Bottle. Amber color with a nice persistent beige head, sweety aroma and Alcohol, the same to the flavor, but notes of caramel and bitterness. Good one!

from a metal "bottle" - poured with a small head, but does have lace. Color is brown with some red highlights. Aroma is very malty and sweet, but picked up a fleeting waft of bleach. Ditto for taste. Distinct alcohol warming. Unusually thin for the sweetness. Two dimensional. Well carbonated tho. Sweet finish.

Canned. Ruby coloured. Notes of candy and berries in the aroma. Very sweet flavour. Thin and artificial with notes of metal and alcohol. Rather unpleasant.

Canned. A dark amber coloured beer with a small beige coloured head. The aroma is sweet and jammy. Fruity and alcoholic. The taste is sweet with caramel notes. Berry fruits and alcohol. Warming. I cannot understand the snobbery about this beer. It is really good, and is a doppelbock by any other name.
