Bubbly texture with a big head (though I poured it aggressively just to make sure!). Weird sugary aroma. Taste is a very sweet malt-candy thing that’s closer to pop than beer. Like everything’s just been overpowered by flavouring from some unknown vat. Might be a good alcoholic replacement for coca-cola.

50 cl can, bought in Lithuanian marker "Maxima" The first breath of sweet, but the flavor of alcohol is overshadowing strength. And after each sip immediately rolled out an unpleasant aftertaste. This is not a particularly strong beer, but alcohol is too much spoils the whole thing. Likewise, it kills the whole palette of flavors. Color and foam - all in order. It is a shame, but it is one of only a few beers that I wanted to pour out.

suurjuust (352) - Tartu, ESTONIA - APR 3, 2012
Ruby red, foamy off white head, some lacing. Smooth, somewhat oily mouthfeel. Sweet, malts, caramel, some mildly hoppy notes in the dissapointingly watery finish. Lacks substance.

Bierkrug (1666) - Idar-Oberstein (In East Africa), Rhineland-Palatinate, GERMANY - FEB 23, 2012
500 ml can in Accra, Ghana. Pours a deep and dark mahogany color, crisp appearance with a soft beige head. Aroma is malt, alcohol and dark fruit. A rich tasting beer with some fruit in it. Palate is smooth but ends in a strange dryness. Not what I was expecting so was actually a little bit pleased. Only just a little bit.

Deep amber-red pour topped by a tight white head. The nose is a little bit sweet wih a bit of caramel and some sweet toasted grain. There is a caramel note that is actually pretty nice. Sweet and a bit toffeeish. A bit peppery and a little bit hot. It’s actually shockingly drinkable. I wouldn’t say its good, but it’s definitely not bad.

7.9% deep amber colour with a thin head, caramel malt aroma and taste, I think this could be the best of the Bavaria beers.

jolo (603) - Cape Town, SOUTH AFRICA - NOV 27, 2011
Can at the Cape Town Festival of Beer 2011. A clear red amber colour with a small, fizzy, white head. An aroma of malt and fruit. The taste is heavy sweet and light bitter. A medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation and a medium long duration.

probstblueribbon (1967) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 21, 2011
500 ml can, random silly purchase from TBS, served cold in a tulip glass. 27OC11.

App.: Clear deep copper with a fair light tan froth. Aroma: Unexpectedly pleasant toasted cereals, earthy malts, slightly fruity toffee, a little brown sugar, minerals, a little alcohol, bread crust, toast, not bad! Palate: Medium body, fairly aggressive carbonation. Flav.: Dirty wet ash, an oddly sweet/bitter note, only remnants of the lovely malts in the nose, maybe a little dark dried fruit, not good!; strangely off-dry, inappropriately bitter with a gross fruity, artificial sweetener finish.

The ol’ “bait and switch”.

Pours a dark coppery red with a dense off-white head. Aroma is sweet fruit malt. Taste is also sweet sugary fruit with little bitterness to balance it with. Has a nice warming alcohol feel. OK but not great.
