Gift from the Mrs:
Appearance: Clear golden, alright amount of off-white head. Slightly fizzy.
Aroma: Malt and grains, nothing to get excited about.
Taste: Crisp, more malt than hops. Feels a bit oily. Slight alcohol. Standard.
Info: 650ml bottle, 4/5-2012

Can 500ml. Pours out clear golden with a white, steady head. Grassy aroma, with some malts. Flavour has maltiness and a thicking alcoholic sweetness. Not too bad to drink, ok to get drunk fast.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Metalchopz (1427) - Quebec, CANADA - APR 16, 2012
Pours a rich golden colour with a big white creamy head that has great retention and full lacing. Sweet grainy nose that is balanced between the malt and the alcohol. Thicker mouthfeel than usual, but still pretty crisp with almost a bit of dryness in the finish. Thinking this would be super sweet, but the malt is not that bad, with some alcohol to it (without the burn). Not a bad malt liquor.

On 17th Jan 2012 I wrote: I’ve just finished reviewing this beers little brother: the 6.5% ABV Gold 8.6 beer for the French market, I hope this is more balanced and better in every way.
Anyway, here goes a live review: I’m pouring the 25cl brown bottle into a ’Palm special’ labelled bulbous tulip. The beer looks like a typical lager/pilsner, maybe a little more darker than most: still golden with a white head that refuses to hang around though, so very lager like.
The smell is sweet and laden with alcohol: malt sweetness with apple blossom if I’m being kind, the alcohol esters however frighten me: no hop element at all.
The taste is ’a headache in waiting’ this is all about the alcohol, no attempt to hide or disguise it what so ever. Malty sweetness and not much else I’m afraid.
This is a brown bag on a park bench sort of beer, not my type at all.

Unusual for a beer that is named after its ABV to be sold as a weaker version of itself. Anyways...., honestly looks the part in the glass; solid, rocky and tight, satiny pillow of white atop a bright, shimmering orange gold body. Mad, eddying carbonation fuels the head keeping it held high for the length, shades the glass white as it empties. Tinny, sweet, candied popcorn up first in the aroma joined by hot fusel alcohol and a lot of sweet, toasted malt wort notes. Soft, creamy mouthfeel aided by the persistent head. Warming medicinal alcohol penetrates as it slips past the tonsils. Straight line sweet toasted malt and candyish sugar make up the most. Clean finish, free of any fermentation nasties but becomes a little cloying really quick. Light wheat note midpalate and a ever-so-delicately placed dusty hop note late, breaks it up little. I’ve had sweeter, this one did manage to contain itself and the pint emptied with considerable ease. Just another Strong Euro lager all-in-all!! (50cL, BBE 03/13, Greenfields Liquor Store, Mandurah)
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 luttonm (960) - Belgrade, SERBIA - MAR 6, 2012
.5 can found occasionally in Belgrade. I’ve been surprised by these Bavaria 86 beers before, but this is the ’Special Blond Beer’ and 7.9% listed on the can. Thicker orange lager pour with foamy head. Not the worst example of a strong pale macro lager. Coating malty alcohol, some tart green ness but devolves in to an overly sweet-alc mess. drinkable I guess. Nice carbonation and flavors

earthy, spruce, bread, cooked vegetables, bubblegum, alcohol, pale, clear, rocky head, heavy cloying sweetness, lightly bitter, medium sourness, medium body, thin feel, soft carbonation,

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Padilha (82) - BRAZIL - FEB 4, 2012
Bem lupulada e bem alcoolizada, esta cerveja é ideal para acompanhamentos bem apimentados. Vale a pena, porém não há nada de "special" nela.
