For a Schwarzbier the taste is simple and one dimensional, no character, some similarities with a Negra Modelo. A disappointment if you expect a dark beer (or any kind of a beer). Taste is watery, with some malt, and soda water taste. Really, your typical lager with slightly heavier malt, and added sweetness. Familiar cheap and watery lager-type flavor with a touch of roasted malt. Drinkable, but pretty bland and boring. bitter (1137), Henderson, Nevada, USA

Flavor is sweet and lightly malty, with a metallic finish. Drinkable, crisp mouthfeel.
No earthshaking experience, but an interesting rendition of a dunkle. The aroma is a little unsettling, but overall, fairly well balanced. Bavaria Dark was the most drinkable beer I tied in Costa Rica.

Probably the best local beer availabe in CR - but that’s not saying all that much. If you’re on a beer quest - go to Belgium or Germany - stay away from Costa Rica.
