COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a classic beer made with special malts and raw materials that produce its amber color, as well as its body and rather dry, light character that distinguishes it from other dark beers. In contrast to the general perception that traditional dark beers are bitter and “heavy,” Bavaria Dark has very different characteristics, due to its hops content. Bavaria Dark was launched in 2001.

Copper color with fine co2 and a beige rocky head -- retention is better than expected Aroma is malty, with a notable skunk presence (sulfur?). Flavor is sweet and lightly malty, with a metallic finish. Drinkable, crisp mouthfeel. No earthshaking experience, but an interesting rendition of a dunkle. The aroma is a little unsettling, but overall, fairly well balanced. Bavaria Dark was the most drinkable beer I tied in Costa Rica.

Clear dark red color, light brown head. Sweet, grainy, malty scent. Malty, grainy taste. Grainy aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, medium low bitterness.

Bottle enjoyed by the pool in Costa Rica. Pours a dark brown color with white head. Somewhat minimal noise with grainy, slight roasty, malty aromas and flavors. A little more body and flavor than the Bavaria Gold but still pretty macro tasting.

Bottled in Guacimal, Costa Rica. Dark brown, mid sized beige head. Fruity buttery nose. Medium bodied with clean, rounded mouthfeel. Soap, overripe fruits, some caramel. Low bitterness. Boring pale lager with some black malt for colouring?

Appearance: it has a dark brown color with a medium head. Aroma: smells like grassy hops and toasted malts. Tastes like raisins, but nothing more. Watery.

Can. Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is medium to dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (cereal/grain, dog food, husks, caramel). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation. Typical super-rough, grainy dark beer, similar to what you get in Mexico. Slightly better than most swill pale lager, but not by much.

12 ounce can, thought this would be better than Bavaria gold but it has less flavor and kind of a tinny finish. ok but wouldn’t drink again

Brown amber body with a cola head. Dusty malt nose with stale, tin melanoidins. Watery brown malts, not much flavor but a diluted roastyness. Not distasteful, just lackluster.

A clear reddish brown dunkel with a thin mocha head. In aroma, light sweet nutty malt with light grassy hops. In mouth, a nutty crisp malt with light caramel and chalky character, boring. Can from Auto Mercado San Jose.
