Commercial Description:
This is a classic beer made with special malts and raw materials that produce its amber color, as well as its body and rather dry, light character that distinguishes it from other dark beers. In contrast to the general perception that traditional dark beers are bitter and “heavy,” Bavaria Dark has very different characteristics, due to its hops content. Bavaria Dark was launched in 2001.

buena presentación, es la segunda mejor de CR despues de la 1460 que es edición limitada, además tiene un aroma suave y un color dorado claro que no es perfecto pero es bueno,

Well, this beer is a little sweet, not much, and the foam is great. BUt a little flavorless too. REally dark, similar to some bocks.

The dark counterpart of Bavaria Gold. Beautiful dark brown/black color. It is rather malty and not very bitter. Roasted malts do not really come through. I like Gold better but this is a perfectly respectable brew.

Probably the most flavorful local brew you can get in CR. The problem is when you’re in CR you want a beer that is light and refreshing! Nonetheless, this beer has good malt (caramel), light sweetness, and is smooth. Not bad for a mass-produced 3rd-world brew!

Clear dark brown, with a big foamy beige head. Malty, toasty aroma. Hint og rye and toast, with a mildly bitter finish. Perhaps a hint of cola in the end, too.

Can from TBone, thanks! Dark brown color. Malty caramelly aroma. Grainy sweetish caramelly flavor with apple. Somewhat thin and sticky, but not unpleasant.

Copper color with fine co2 and a beige rocky head -- retention is better than expected Aroma is malty, with a notable skunk presence (sulfur?). Flavor is sweet and lightly malty, with a metallic finish. Drinkable, crisp mouthfeel. No earthshaking experience, but an interesting rendition of a dunkle. The aroma is a little unsettling, but overall, fairly well balanced. Bavaria Dark was the most drinkable beer I tied in Costa Rica.

Thanks to Aaron for bringing this brew from Costa rica! A lighter Schwarzbier, but not bad, mellow, some slight roasted flavor, otherwise an average bier, not bad though, quite drinkable! My favorite Costa Rican brew!
