12 ounce can purchased at the candy shoppe located at the Double Tree Puntarenas Resort. The aroma on this is pretty inoffensive. Fleeting chocolate sweetness is present, but there is also a metallic, corny DMS behind it as well. Transparent cola-colored body with a ruby twinge present. Small, light tan head present. Starts a little sweet with a touch of toasted maltiness present. Scant sweetness, too. Light metallic hoppy bitterness to finish. Slight DMS, but not too much. Pretty good.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Canned, 0.35l. Clear dark brown color with medium frothy brownish head and average visible carbonation. Aroma of grassy hops, mildly toasted malt, light coffee and subtle chocolate. Taste starts with sweet toasted malt, then followed by mild caramel and finished with mild bitterness and some spiciness. Light to medium body, slick texture and soft carbonation in palate. It’s not the top-notch, but so far one of the best Costa Rican beers (I haven’t had such luck to come across Bri Bri and Cartago micro brews)...

Wow, this is a rough one. Almost worse than the lagers I just had in San Jose. Almost. Just pounding this bad as quickly as I can by the hostel pool, though it may soon follow its friends iby being poured into the palm garden beside my pool recliner. Bottle.

When in Costa Rica do as Los Ticos do. This is a. Ice dark colored beer with a malty taste. There are very subtle chocolate tones. If you are looking for a dark beer which is also refreshing for the hot humid climate this is what you are looking for.

Alright, nothing special, but decent for domestic beer. Pours a nice color, dark maroon-brown. Not much head. Taste is nice, smooth and a little creamy. An easy drinker.
