COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a classic beer made with special malts and raw materials that produce its amber color, as well as its body and rather dry, light character that distinguishes it from other dark beers. In contrast to the general perception that traditional dark beers are bitter and “heavy,” Bavaria Dark has very different characteristics, due to its hops content. Bavaria Dark was launched in 2001.

A clear reddish brown dunkel with a thin mocha head. In aroma, light sweet nutty malt with light grassy hops. In mouth, a nutty crisp malt with light caramel and chalky character, boring. Can from Auto Mercado San Jose.

12 ounce can, thought this would be better than Bavaria gold but it has less flavor and kind of a tinny finish. ok but wouldn’t drink again

Bottled in Guacimal, Costa Rica. Dark brown, mid sized beige head. Fruity buttery nose. Medium bodied with clean, rounded mouthfeel. Soap, overripe fruits, some caramel. Low bitterness. Boring pale lager with some black malt for colouring?

Brown amber body with a cola head. Dusty malt nose with stale, tin melanoidins. Watery brown malts, not much flavor but a diluted roastyness. Not distasteful, just lackluster.

12 ounce can purchased at the candy shoppe located at the Double Tree Puntarenas Resort. The aroma on this is pretty inoffensive. Fleeting chocolate sweetness is present, but there is also a metallic, corny DMS behind it as well. Transparent cola-colored body with a ruby twinge present. Small, light tan head present. Starts a little sweet with a touch of toasted maltiness present. Scant sweetness, too. Light metallic hoppy bitterness to finish. Slight DMS, but not too much. Pretty good.
