350ml can bought along with bavaria light just to try them. nothing great really. marketed as a "premium beer" in CR. but definitely far from it. i like bavaria dark but the other 2 offerings from them are grim. minimal on the hops and i seem to be repeating myself describing all these costa rican lagers... very watery!

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: APR 8, 2005 RERATE: The best of the Costa Rican beers. It’s slightly more expensive too. Has a little more color and aroma. Not as good in the heat. This beer is good with steak. And I might add the steak in Costa Rica is great.

At Borinquen rainforest resort in CR. An alternative to Imperial to avoid getting tired of those too quickly. In general as mediocre as all of the other Central American / Caribbean beers.

Had from Bottle. Aroma was faint, but slightly hoppy. Taste is the same. Slightly hoppy, slightly fruity, notes of apple and a flutter of cane sugar, although only mildly sweet. Not bad.

Bottle in Costa Rica. A bit sweeter than Pilsen - I"ll call this one Costa Rica’s answer to MGD.

1.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Standard, run of the mill tropical lager; aka pretty tasteless and no fun to drink unless you’re looking at some beautiful beach scene. Worse than the Dark because there is no malt flavor even. Boring.

1.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20
The better of the Costan Rican beers I tasted. Pours into a very yellow liquid with no head and much carbonation. Little taste at all.

1.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Appearance: golden color. Medium head with white color and not lasting.
Aroma: adjuncts grains (mainly) and maybe a slight hoppy smells.
Flavor: poor like the aroma. Some adjuncts grains taste, some sugar beet and an one-dimensional light dryness.
Palate: light body, watery texture and medium carbonation.
Remark: insipid beer.

Accidentally was handed this when I asked for a Bavaria at a club, thinking I’d get Bavaria dark. Anyways light gold body, no hops in the nose to speak of. Hay malty taste. Blah, you’ve done poorly Costa Rica
