COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is of the Dortmunder variety. Its high proportion of malts and fine-quality hops, as well as its golden color and appetizing head, make Bavaria Gold a beer of European type and character. The sensory balance of freshness, body and bitterness, together with a jealously guarded production process, make Bavaria Gold a premium-quality beer that has been in production since the 1930s.
At some point the ABV went from 4% to 5.1%.

A golden lager with a thin white head. In aroma, crisp malt with light grassy German hops, light metallic notes. In mouth, a smooth crisp malt with mineral notes and light German hops, not bad. Can from Auto Mercado San Jose.

29th March 2014: Punteranus, Costa Rica. Once we had tried all three beers available at our first bar we decided to have a stroll around and see if we could find somewhere else to spend our Dollars: we did find somewhere and they had this along with two more new brews for me (Bavaria Light and Rock Lemon: not ideal, but a tick is a tick sometimes). Reminded me of the Dutch Bavarian Lager you can get in Holland and the UK: golden, bright and clean looking, Odourless almost and devoid of taste, but a typical lager based beer nonetheless. It was a lot better than what was to follow!

Bottled in Guacimal, Costa Rica. Clear golden, small head. Somewhat buttery nose. Sweetish with clean, rounded mouthfeel and medium body. Butter and overripe fruits. Low bitterness. Average industrial lager.

Fizzy gold, highly carbonated body with thick, off-white foamy head. Spicy grain nose, decidedly more substantial than I an anticipated--perhaps even a whiff of Belgian yeast--but then it fades into a more routine, stale cardboard quality. Thinnish body, very light and thinly sweet. Scarcely palbable at all. A whisper of a beer.

Had this from 12oz bottle at club cielo in Costa Rica. Sweet pilsner with slightly bitter after taste. Not bad but probably my only one.

Accidentally was handed this when I asked for a Bavaria at a club, thinking I’d get Bavaria dark. Anyways light gold body, no hops in the nose to speak of. Hay malty taste. Blah, you’ve done poorly Costa Rica

350ml can bought along with bavaria light just to try them. nothing great really. marketed as a "premium beer" in CR. but definitely far from it. i like bavaria dark but the other 2 offerings from them are grim. minimal on the hops and i seem to be repeating myself describing all these costa rican lagers... very watery!

12 ounce can purchased at the candy shoppe in Doubletree Puntarenas Resort.. Huge amounts of DMS and corniness. Not as though this is enough, there is an apple-cider component with notes of acetylaldehyde, too. Fuck. Transparent yellow body with a small, bubbly white head present. Starts with initial sweet corn flavors. Becomes a bit chewy and full-bodied in the middle. Finishes with some vegetal flavor, and a moderate bitterness. I guess I would call that a bit of a grassy hop bitterness. Another Central American pale lager...
