Oakes (10009) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 30, 2001
UPDATED: APR 21, 2005 Golden colour with heavy grassy-hoppy aroma...plus hints of graininess. Thick bready malts blend with grassy noble hops on the palate. Moderately bitter. There is a definite huskiness, however and traces of alcohol that slightly undermine what otherwise is a pretty respectable lager.

66cl bottle drunk on a train to London. Pale gold colour. Smells faintly of perfume but not in a good way. No discernable lager flavours. This was a drain pour. Reaaly unpleasant

AS Bavaria Classica @ Italy. 66cl bottle. Pours clear gold with a off white head. Nose is moderate malty and hoppy. Grain and hay. Quite dry. Watery mouthfeel. No off flavors but quite boring.

Typical lager outfit: yellow golden with foamy white head. Grassy aroma. Plain and simple with grassy hops and malty backbone.

Can. (as Tesco Premium Lager, 5%) A clear, slightly pale golden beer topped by a small, white head. Grainy and malty on the nose, quite sweetish, with a touch of fruits. Malty-sweet, grainy and quite weak flavor with a quite pleasant bitterness. The bitterness is actually the best part of this beer, else it’s too grainy and sweet, also in the finish. Medium body. Decent, and sort of quenching even though it’s on the sweet side. Don’t see any reason to re-visit though. (081220)

Bottle. Yellow with a short lasting bubbly white head. Weak aroma of grains and malt. Flavour is slightly malty, grassy and grainy. Slight bitter finish. An ok tasting straw beer.
