Draft notes from Capone’s 4Q 2011. Pours turbid dark brown with minimal head. Nose was pumpkin and heavy pumpkin spice. Tastes of caramel malt, pumpkin puree, and heavy cardamom and pumpkin spice. Good, but a bit unbalanced.

Deep brown pour almost black thin off white head .... aroma of cinnamon and spices .... taste was a spice bomb with cinnamon leading the way and clove just an onslaught of pumpkin spices and a slight earthy taste ..... abv was hidden well .... a touch of spices is a huge understatement

Pint. Pours a clear dark brown body with a small fizzy light brown head that faded to a wispy film. The nose is not over spiced for me, sweet caramel maltiness and some moderate pumpkin meat, nutmeg, a little cinnamon lighter roastiness. The flavor is over spiced however. it virtually burns with cinnamon and nutmeg up front before the malt sweetness comes on to tone it down a bit. There’s still some nice pumpkin meat lingering in there with a touch of vanilla that comes out on the finish. Medium bodied, actually a bit thin for the heftiness, with fizzy prickly carbonation. This could be a decent starting point for another go at this, they just need to tone way down the spice levels.

UPDATED: OCT 24, 2011 Draft at Capone’s with Linh, dallas Ann and pat. Pours deep brown with no head or lacing. Aroma is lots of spice. Mouthfeel is medium with spicy notes dominating.

On tap at Capone’s. Dark brown pour with no head. Lots and lots of cinnamon. Cinnamon really drowned everything out. Lighter pumpkin, but all spices. Thin and somewhat watery body.

Tap at Sugar Mom’s in Philly Olde City. Pours a murky mud brown with no head. Could be mud. Fall spice nose. Taste is cinnamon explosion. Very unilateral. Numbing cloves, chalky cinnamon powder. Very fall spice heavy/gimmicky. Cloves to the absolute max...chewing on cloves. Medicinal palate. Nothing gross here just spiced out to the max.

Brown with an off-white head. Toasted malts, toasted pumpkin, light pumpkin pie spices. Full bodied. Very tasty pumpkin beer. A complete surprise. Very interesting and all the malts and spices meld well together.
