Miver (441), WillowStreet, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 18, 2008 Draft at the brewery. Poured deep brown with a nice frothy tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of toffee, nuts, roasty and toasty. Tastes of nuts, toast, roasted malts, caramel, toffee, and some mild English hops. I’m not a huge fan of brown ales. This is what I would expect from a well made brown ale. acrdz (4404), Boulder, Colorado, USA Aug 3, 2008 Draft at the brewery. Pours dark brown, mostly clear with a long-lasting tan head. Wonderfully rich nose of toffe, caramel, toast, chocolate, some nuts and wood - basically spot-on for the aroma profile of classic English brown/porter. Flavor is rich and vibrant toffee, chocolate, heavy toastes malts, extremely fresh and lacking any sort of brewing defects. A really good English-style brown ale. kmweaver (2125), Takoma Park, Maryland, USA Jul 27, 2008 Draft @ Bavarian Barbarian. Pours a bright, clear golden-caramel color; light tan head with fine-bubbled lacing. Toasty malts and a really nice bitter chocolate note in the aroma; excellent, crisp nose. Lively carbonation. Medium mouthfeel: toasty malts, light chocolatiness, and a slight, mild vegetal note; slightly disappointing following the aroma, but still very drinkable and dry. Medium finish: lots of toasty malts, light chocolate, and cereal; nicely dry. jehoey (723), Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 20, 2008 typical browm ale. malty some english hop character. nothing standout. medium heavy bodied and chestnut colored.
