Commercial Description:
Weldspatter IPA is not your typical India Pale Ale. First of all, it isn’t as aggressively hopped as many other American versions. Second, it isn’t quite as pale. Balance is a lovely thing in beers and Weldspatter IPA achieves balance without compromising hop presence. The hop flavor and aroma abound, but the bitterness is held in check to give our IPA a pleasant malt character as well. 7% ABV, 44 IBU. Made with Phoenix, Nugget and Pilgrim hops.

Deep amber pour lots of creamy off white head lacingaroma of sweet malt and citrus hops ... sweet malt taste with a fruity citrusy hop flavor as well balanced with a finishing hop aftertaste ... a good simple ipa which if your a hop head like I am can be a disappointment, but its a nice english style ipa abv hidden well

On tap at the brewery. A fine IPA, with lots of lace. Phoenix, Nugget and Pilgram hops. Some fruitiness, citrus. Drying but 44 IBU English style is appreciated. The clear winner here. They are tweaking it for hopheads and therefore sales, however I would get a hold of this while you can. Good drinkability.

Bottle. Pours hazy dark amber with a half-inch of lasting off-white head. Smells very "English" with notes of toast, nuts, and grass. The flavor is fruity and otherwise bland. Subtle hints of strawberry and mango. Definitely not your typical IPA. Balanced bitterness and a hint of sour. Dry throughout with a lasting finish. Not what I would reach for when I want an IPA but not bad, just very different.

Pours a dark cloudy amber/copper color with light golden orange hues and visible carbonation bubbling up and a one finger yellowish beige head with good retention that leaves sporadic rings of lacing. Floral hoppy aroma with a caramel malt backbone and some dry piny and citrus notes. Slightly dry with subtle pine and citrusy lemon peel and grapefruit balanced by a caramel malt backbone that is slightly sweet. Dry finish.

Bottle from Wegman’s Williamsport. Pours turbid ruddy dark straw with 1-finger off-white head. Nose is fruity, malty, with hops and earthy notes. The flavor is heavy malt, earthy, hopcitric, with figgy fruit but an overall somewhat dry and earthy experience. Decent richness and complexity.

Aroma of pine and citrus hops, very light. Semi metallic finish on the flavor, mostly pine and faint citrus, light and green, not great.

Bottle courtesy of kkearn. Pours a reddish copper color with a large tan head. Aroma is caramel, grass, hops, malt. Flavor is bitter harsh resiny hops, caramel, lots of spices and herbs and a bit astringent. Interesting hop combination gives this a little different bitterness than I’m used to with IPA’s.

Sample at Festival. Light pale body. Aroma is light and grassy. Flavor is caramel, light grass and a low hoppy-ness to it.
