3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 womencantsail (3927) - Home of Rebecca Black, California, USA - APR 26, 2012
Pours an effervescent golden straw color with a large white head. Excellent aroma of spice and yeast with tons of bread and biscuit malts. It’s mildly dry with a nice floral character. The flavor is moderately sweet with a strong maltiness. The finish is dry with lots of yeast, spice, and floral notes. Really enjoyable, crisp, and refreshing.

Bottle at BJs. Yellow pour with a god amount of white head. Aroma is sweet gain and some floral hops. Flavor it sweet and light, more like a belgian blond than a dubble. Refreshing.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 jcr (1682) - Jasper, Indiana, USA - JAN 14, 2012
750 ml. Clear straw body. Big, fizzy white head, slowly diminishing. Aroma of citrus, wild yeast funkiness, grapefruit, pine, pepper, spice. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, fizzy carbonation, a fizziness that sits on the palate way too long. Lots of tart lemon and brett-like funk/lacquer in the taste. It’s scrubbed by the carbonation leaving a dry, bitter finish with some lingering pepper and wood notes. The complexities in this beer are overwhelmed by the bitterness and over carbonation.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 IrishBoy (3334) - Bakersfield, California, USA - JAN 4, 2012
750 ml bottle Christmas gift from my daughter’s family from BJs Bakersfield. Nose citrus, light spices, hints of barnyard funkiness, and some caramel sweetness. Slight gusher after I carefully released the pressure. Lightly hazy urine yellow with a big very pale yellow head. Flavor is bitter, lemony, funky, with hints of spiciness.
2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 carboloader (577) - Houston, Texas, USA - JAN 1, 2012
Pours pale yellow with small head. This one seems strange to me, but is not a style I am very familiar with. Several mixed flavors going on here with some dirty malt or yeast, but mostly fruity tartness. I’m not sure I know what to make of this one. OK, but I don’t want another one.

Bottle from Rare Beer Club: pours hazy, pale straw, bright white head. lots of effervescent carbonation. barnyard funk, farmhouse yeast, citrus hops on the nose. flavors of wheat, grain, mild herbal grassiness, subtle citrus and tartness with a bit of funk. dry finish. really drinkable.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 JCB (3100) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - DEC 21, 2011
750ml from the Rare Beer Club. Handsome pour, a pale golden-orange with a nice foamy head to complement the gleaming body. Nose is tart fruit and dry spice/hops. I’m immediately reminded of a homebrew Duvel clone (though homebrew is not meant as a pejorative here). Citrus rind and spice to taste, not as much character as a beer of this gravity needs. More like a singel on steroids or something. Mild tartness and dry spice certainly is a combination I enjoy, but I was hoping for more.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 JDBaker11058 (677) - Maryland, USA - DEC 17, 2011
Appearance: clear orangey gold with a huge fluffy, sticky white head that lingered, rich frothy lacing and a hyperactive bead when poured into a Duvel tulip. Aroma: notes of lemon peel and grapefruit juice over a faro/lambec like sweet and sour malt, with a hint of herbs. Taste: grassy, citrussy hops right up front, then a slowly building crackery malt backbone, with just a hint of sour acidity. Finish: the hops that faded from the initial taste pick back up, and it finishes bitter and herbal, with a slowly drying white wine-like note. Notes: A tripel meets a Belgian Pale Ale meets a hint of flemish sour ale. Palate is creamy but the bitterness scrubs the mouth. Bottle from the Rare Beer Club.
