COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In Flanders, "Ezel" {donkey} is a nickname given to specific people or even entire village communities. However, as the people of this area, the word "Ezel" symbolizes not so much stupidity, but patient and dogged perseverance, a perseverance that is quite conscious of its own quality. The same applies to this ale: brewed from raw materials of the highest quality, it has a mellow taste that shows a real personality.

The aroma is nothing to write home about. Appearance is that of a clear amber beer. Flavor is really nice, with a palate that goes from sweetness to soury and a really bitter hoppy finish. Enjoyable!

Bottle @ Smokeless Joe. Aroma is red pitfruit, malt with some citrus notes, clear, light copper, pours a small custard head. Taste is good malt, red plums and mild almonds. Light bodied, balanced, bitter and dry. Good.

I tried this beer on April 30, 2009 at "Smokeless Joe’s" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beered poured a translucent golden-brown with a thin white head. The aroma was sweet malt, some grain, and some citrusy notes. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was grainy malt, some sweet sugary hints, and a nice bitter finish.

330 ml bottle from Belgium Beers, Antwerp. A thick greyish head resting on a golden brown colored body. Sugary aroma; grains, caramel and sweet bread. Very sweet-flavored with both a fruity and malty sweetness. Modest bitterness. Sticky texture. Dries up a bit in the finish. Three tads too sweet, not a favorite.

Bottle, thx to OleR. It pours a golden color with some carbonation, and a big, creamy, off-white head. Some butterscotch on the nose, with caramel, some grains and a rather unpleasant sweetish, puke-like scent. Sweet, malty flavor with roasted malts and some butterscotch. Drier towards finish. Much much fruityness going on. Some hoppy bitterness. Dry, full-bodied. Quite bitter finish with plenty of residual sugars. A strange beer. The aroma isn’t interesting at all, but the flavor is quite all right. Can’t see me returning to this one. (090312)

A dark amber ale with a thick light moka head. A light malty aroma with caramel and light fruity esters. In mouth, a Belgian vienna, a bit nutty, with light oxidation and hops. So-so. BB 26-06-10. Bottle at Smokeless Joes, March 23, 2009.
