(Bottled) Slightly hazy golden color with a very large, bubbly and lacy, pillowy head. An aroma of honeyish German pilsener with grassy hops and lemon. Acidic, sourish, quite harshly bitter-hoppy flavor with a dry, bitter finish. Not very smooth. Bitter, quite hard and carbonated palate. Hides the ABV ok. A German pils in Belgian tripel clothes. Not very balanced.

Brown 33cl bottle, best before 23 Apr 2012, drank as our third beer during one of my ’random beer tasting evenings’ with the wife (Aug 2010). Poured into a ’Hoegaarden Grand Cru’ stemmed tulip glass, leaving as much sediment as I could in the bottle. The beer appeared as a hazy dull orange coloured brew, the head pure white and unwilling to stay around too long. The aroma was a weak citrus mix with some yeast esters trying to get through. The taste was almost sharp and tart, but not quiet that sour: lemon and grapefruit maybe, but not cheek suckingly rancid. I’ll go for semi-sour, however when I added the grist from the bottle into the last remnants of my glass the beer tasted sweeter and certainly more fuller than without the said sediment.

Golden colored pour. Big white egg-foam head. Plenty of big bubbly lacing left behind as it quickly dies down. Yeasty aroma mixed with malt and bananas. Same in the taste but more pronounced banana. Sweet, almost too sweet. Not bad.

Bontus (511) - Waasmunster, BELGIUM - DEC 30, 2011
Bottle, gift. Pours clear (dark) yellow, with a fluffy dense egg white head. Enhanced by the abundance of ferrous atoms. So... rusty aroma. Nose is rich in fusels, alcohol and cereal. Palate is propelled by a higher than normal carbonation, and further quite astringent. Taste is mostly sweet, finish is more bitter. Overall rather poor for a commercial widespread brew.
