Dark ale, fermented in the bottle.
Inspired by a Breughel painting, “The Flemish Proverbs” (1559), in which several Flemish proverbs are depicted amongst which is the expression "He’s a pilaarbijter" ("pillar biter"), which means, ’He’s a hypocritical man.’

6.5% ABV bottle from Beer Museum, Brugge, Belgium. Hazy copper coloured with a red fruity and cola flavour followed by a sugary sweet toffee and cherry finish. The flavour is a little ‘fake’.

Slap, waterig vlak bier. Niets spannends aan, geen karakter, niets. Ik kan deze niet aanraden.

A somewhat cloudy, but good looking brown beer with a firm, slightly brown layer of foam. Besides the scent of alcohol, the aroma also contains the hint of grain and/or fresh bread. In it’s slightly sweet taste is also the hint of licorice. It leaves a dry palate, and the aftertaste is a combination of metal and bitterness.

Large loose foamy beige head, sizzles down gradually, thin layer remains, light lacing; aroma of caramel, light fruit (pear, berries), bit nutty; taste is medium sweet and bitter, malty, bit fruity; medium body, watery to oily texture, average carbonation, aftertaste is mild sweetbitter, bit roasty in the finish; on the whole on the thin side.

Bottle - Loght sour and sweet cherry with some Woody notes. Clear copper red with a small white head. Malty with only a hint of cherry and a long finish. None of the crisp, tart or cherry notes I was hoping for. Not bad, just very plain.
