Commercial Description:
Dark ale, fermented in the bottle.
Inspired by a Breughel painting, “The Flemish Proverbs” (1559), in which several Flemish proverbs are depicted amongst which is the expression "He’s a pilaarbijter" ("pillar biter"), which means, 'He’s a hypocritical man.'

0.33 l bottle. Red to amber color with dirty looking head. Caramel, nuts, berries, phenols and glue in the aroma. Sweetish flavor with tart fruitiness, phenols, caramel, glue and some sharp alcohol. Fairly mild aroma and flavor for 6.5 % abv.

Creme marrom denso e consistente. Aroma e sabor um tanto fracos de malte torrado e caramelo. Final longo e adocicado.

Pours a murky brown-maroon color with thin tan frothy head. It has a light sweet chocolate and phenol aroma. Smooth body with a slight stickiness. Caramel and chocolate flavor with some tart cherries and a light spiciness. The tartness is unexpected and makes me wonder whether it was a bad bottle or a flemish influence. Drinkable but lacks depth.
