COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark ale, fermented in the bottle.
Inspired by a Breughel painting, “The Flemish Proverbs” (1559), in which several Flemish proverbs are depicted amongst which is the expression "He’s a pilaarbijter" ("pillar biter"), which means, ’He’s a hypocritical man.’

Sampled on tap at La Trappe. I really enjoyed this brew. Has a light malty flavor and a beautiful color and a clean on the palate.

A 33 cl bottle from Legacy Liquor in Vancouver. A very dark reddish bronze beer with generous tan head. . Sweet, fruity and yeasty on the nose. Lots of caramelized fruits and malts on the palate. Low bitterness as expected. 3.3.

At first sight a bit dull. But after a few minutes it’s getting better. Roast, bit smokey, sweet honey notes, dark brown. A fine belgian style brown beer. But i wouldn’t drink so much of it that i would bite a pillar

roasty, earthy, leather, aromas with a massively thick head nice brown colour shows a golden hue when held up to the light, it just tastes like newcastle brown to be honest but a bit fizzier quite a cloying aftertaste i probably wouldnt go out of my way to get it. bottle from beers of europe.

Bottle 330 ml at home, poured into a tulip glass. ABV 6.5% Deep red brown colour on the body, very clear, with good activity in it. Head is beige in colour, two fingers tall, with good density and retention. A small part of it remains on the surface almostt for the whole drinking experience. Aroma has caramel, some light nutty notes, red fruits. Taste is of caramel, red fruits, light toffee, iron. Medium body, lots of fizzy carbonation, actually reducing all the flavours quite a bit. Overall: Nothing special, at moments even boring.

Medium body, average carbonation, some oily texture. Taste is caramel, nuts, toffe, liquorice, some roasted notes. Nice and enjoyable.
