nuplastikk (403), Maryland, USA Mar 8, 2008 330ml bottle. Pours a rich Burgundy-brown color. Huge lacy head. Amber caramel taste, with some fruity pungent qualities as well. Relatively easy finish for a beer with such yeast and malt characteristics. I think my bottle is suffering an Orval Classic effect, and I would like to sample this one fresh. Very nice Dubbel, with a lot of Amber qualities.
note666 (192), Eindhoven, Netherlands Aug 15, 2008 330 ml bottle. ruby brown colour. BIG off white head. not as carbonated as the blond, but still to much. taste is not as dark as I hoped, more fruity than I expected... Borresteijn (448), Amstelveen, Netherlands Aug 14, 2008 Bottle in Bruges. Dark amber brown colour, beige fluffy head. Aroma of caramel and forest fruits, yeast. Flavour is dry, roasted malts, spices and yeast, forest fruits. OK BoBoChamp (618), Gent, Belgium Jul 20, 2008 33cl, from De Hopduvel Gent, easy to drink, yet complex, clear, rocky head, nice brew joohefner (379), Isla Vista, California, USA Jul 2, 2008 Pours a murky brown-maroon color with thin tan frothy head. It has a light sweet chocolate and phenol aroma. Smooth body with a slight stickiness. Caramel and chocolate flavor with some tart cherries and a light spiciness. The tartness is unexpected and makes me wonder whether it was a bad bottle or a flemish influence.
