Dark ale, fermented in the bottle.
Inspired by a Breughel painting, “The Flemish Proverbs” (1559), in which several Flemish proverbs are depicted amongst which is the expression "He’s a pilaarbijter" ("pillar biter"), which means, ’He’s a hypocritical man.’

Poured hazy mahogany brown with a deep rocky head that lasted forever, and left great lacing. A strong thick film stayed on top the whole way down. Aromas of dark fruit and green apples, a bit of spiciness and generous yeast. The dark fruits first detected in the smell are defined in the taste as cherries and plums. Some caramel and toffee pek through as well. Medium to full bodied, plenty of carbonation, and the sweet fruitiness in the aftertaste is shared with a touch of hops. A nice complex beer that demands attention.

Bottle 33cl. Clear medium amber brown, a lot of tiny bubbles. Large loose foamy beige head, sizzles down gradually, thin layer remains, light lacing; aroma of caramel, light fruit (pear, berries), bit nutty; taste is medium sweet and bitter, malty, bit fruity; medium body, watery to oily texture, average carbonation, aftertaste is mild sweetbitter, bit roasty in the finish; on the whole on the thin side.

Bottle - Loght sour and sweet cherry with some Woody notes. Clear copper red with a small white head. Malty with only a hint of cherry and a long finish. None of the crisp, tart or cherry notes I was hoping for. Not bad, just very plain.

Marron opaque avec une moyenne robe marron. L’arôme du malt caramel et un peu du fruits noir. En bouche c’est pareille. Un peu léger pour le style et bonne, mais pas trop complexe.

Dark amber with rich, but fastly disappearing light brown head. Wel balanced caramel sourness with bitterness, but too much watery.
