BBB63 (3843), La Porte, Indiana, USA Mar 24, 2008 Bottle and served in my little Karmeliet glass: Deep muddy brown with a frothy beige head and some lace. The aroma has notes of tart and sweet cherries, caramelized malts, brown sugar, musty Belgian yeast, cardamom, and rye vapours. The taste starts sugary sweet with a moderate dark fruit twang and is a bit pitty and rustic. There is some light spice and an overall farmhouse yeast appeal. The mouth feel is sprite but still maintains a softness of palate. This is quite strange, sort of a cross between a FLEMISH sour ale and an Abbey Dubbel... and I am digging it but alas still wanted a bit more oomph.

BIG off white head. not as carbonated as the blond, but still to much. taste is not as dark as I hoped, more fruity than I expected... Borresteijn (672), Amstelveen, Netherlands Aug 14, 2008 Bottle in Bruges. Dark amber brown colour, beige fluffy head. Aroma of caramel and forest fruits, yeast. OK BoBoChamp (804), Gent, Belgium Jul 20, 2008 33cl, from De Hopduvel Gent, easy to drink, yet complex, clear, rocky head, nice brew joohefner (379), Isla Vista, California, USA Jul 2, 2008 Pours a murky brown-maroon color with thin tan frothy head. It has a light sweet chocolate and phenol aroma. Smooth body with a slight stickiness. Caramel and chocolate flavor with some tart cherries and a light spiciness. The tartness is unexpected and makes me wonder whether it was a bad bottle or a flemish influence. Drinkable but lacks depth.
