UPDATED: MAR 26, 2006 At a glance, the worst reviews appear to be for this one in the can. The 11.2 oz bottle was quite enjoyable. No skunkiness, and no metallic tones. A pleasant if not in any way surprising pilsner. I can’t seem to find an Urquell in SoCal that isn’t skunky, but this pilsner on repeated tastings has been crisp and clean with no lingering aftertaste. Tones of hay and grass, maybe some citrus underneath. Bubbly and light, clear yellow with a cottony head that lingers little and laces less. Nothing enlightening, but a nice refreshing drink that I will occasionally enjoy on hot summer days. Too bad some of you got what sounds like a gnarly version in the can.

Small bottle purchased at Belmont Station in Portland, Oregon--Poured a straw golden yellow body with a thick fluffy and soon to dissipate head. Nose of sweet cereal grains and mild hop spiciness. Citric and creamy on the tongue. Finished quite refreshing. Nice Bavarian pils.

Bottle. Pours with a hazy yellow color. Grassy notes and some mustiness. tastes very clean with grain and hops. This is actually one of my favorite pilsners imported form Europe. Seems ot travel better than most of the Germans.

Bottle. 2.48 average... man, that’s harsh. I thought this to be a pretty good pilsener - not that I have tried that many. Bright, light golden color. Refreshing, crisp, fruity and natural. Earthy beer. I really enjoyed it. I’d drink it again.

Slightly hazy straw color with a thin white head. Aroma of grass, cereal grain, slight spice. Somewhat grainy palate. Not bad, not really anything special.

A decent Belgian pilsener. It is obviously better than Stella Artois, but it isn’t anything particularly worthwhile.

There is nothing special or unique about this Belgium beer. What is unique about this beer is that it is cheap for a Belgium, you can buy it in a can, and it is not that bad of a beer. I usually buy a case for the summer.

UPDATED: OCT 4, 2008 Hazy straw colour. Thick head. Creamy corn nose, with some straw. Soft body with a little spiciness late. Fresh but very creamy malt/corn character, and a mild bitterness. Only a hint of dryness. Well-made, but would have trouble holding my interest for long.

The nose presents a flowery and bitter hop aroma, which definitely comes forward in the taste. This medium-bodied beer has a light malt flavor and a pleasing bitter bite. The finish is a touch sweet, but fairly clean and crisp overall.
