COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As days get shorter and sleeves get longer, Baxter Brewing releases its fall seasonal, Hayride Autumn Ale. A generous portion of two rye malts give the beer a full body, bready flavor, and subtle spiciness; while toasted malts provide a touch of sweetness and a rich, almost reddish hue. New Zealand Pacifica and Pacific Jade hops balance Hayrideís maltiness and suggest notes of oranges and tropical fruit. Finally, we cold-condition the beer on oak, with light additions of ginger, black pepper, and orange peel, bringing out the spiciness of the rye and rounding out the soft sweetness of the beer. Hayride will give a touch of warmth for those cool fall nights, while remaining deliciously drinkable.

Can, unsure of date, assumedly fairly fresh, drunk 1/13/16.
Highly clear, light amber to golden body is topped by a medium-sized white head that quickly fades to a ring.
Light herbal/grassy hops with a touch of juju fruit-like character, some rye spiciness and a touch of iced tea character. I think I smell the ginger, which does actually lift the aroma up somewhat, as the hops are not present in very high quantity. Yet nor is there anything wrong with whatís here (donít get any oak, and the spices are not overdone at all). No alcohol or flaws.
Very straightforward in the flavor, moderately sweet, with various spice notes from rye, hop, pepper, ginger, etc...A touch of light butteriness from the oak, with herbal and grassy hop notes on the end and low bitterness overall. Quite homogenous, actually. Having not read the deScription, I didnít realize there were any adjuncts in here at all. Carbonation is moderate with no alcohol noted.

Drank from a pint glass, poured into a pint glass Thank you Kevdawg... tastes like another red ale, not a spice/herb/vegtable.

355 ml can. Pours a cloudy copper-amber with a creamy, resilient beige head. Aroma is wood, pepper, caramel and roast. Flavor is pepper, caramel, roast, spice. Finish is roast, caramel, spice, herbal. Dry. Lingering earthy notes. Medium to full body, velvety mouthfeel and average carbonation. Very surprising.

Tap at stags head. Fine Amber pour sudsy head. Nose is peppery and malt. Tastes of pepper, malty, caramel, woody, hint of orange peel some rue spice. I get no ginger which Iím thankful for. Dry finish hits backlog throat with some stickiness. Refreshing autumn brew.

12oz can from a mixed 12pack from Xroads. Poured a hazy orangey deep amber with a foamy lasting light beige head. Aroma is odd, celery at first followed by spice, dough, chocolate malts, orange, rye. Flavor is still odd but better, toast, spice, rye, light pepper and a hint of orange peel. Nice mouthfeel, bigger, strong tight bubbly carbonation.

Can from Bertís Fairly clear reddish amber color with a frothy off white head. Peppery spicy bready aromas with hints of brown sugar. Lots more malt in the flavor; big caramel and brown sugar with hints of chocolate. Peppery spicy pine cuts through the sweetness quite well. Lingering light ginger and drying wood tannin long after each sip. Its a bit different, and beats the hell out of any pumpkin based autumn ale.

Overall not a bad beer. Mostly rye spice on the nose and taste with some piney hops as well. Very woody on the aftertaste. Not come thing I'd drink a ton of but decent enough. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
