COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As days get shorter and sleeves get longer, Baxter Brewing releases its fall seasonal, Hayride Autumn Ale. A generous portion of two rye malts give the beer a full body, bready flavor, and subtle spiciness; while toasted malts provide a touch of sweetness and a rich, almost reddish hue. New Zealand Pacifica and Pacific Jade hops balance Hayrideís maltiness and suggest notes of oranges and tropical fruit. Finally, we cold-condition the beer on oak, with light additions of ginger, black pepper, and orange peel, bringing out the spiciness of the rye and rounding out the soft sweetness of the beer. Hayride will give a touch of warmth for those cool fall nights, while remaining deliciously drinkable.

2013-08-16. Dark amber body with a small beige head. 3+ Sort of floral aroma, modest malt. Whispers of rye? Maybe? 7+ Flavour is moderately bitter throughout with mild grainy rye like notes. Light fruity accents. Average bodied palate, moderate carbonation. Okay. Can At Campground Brewdown.

Really surprised by the low ratings of this. Crimson colored hue with a rocky eggshell head. Pretty damn complex with citrus, caramel, oak, honey, spice, tangerine zest, mango, papaya, and a touch of ginger. Whew! That was a lot. Somehow, it comes together. Enjoyed it.

0.355l can from my secret Santa 2012. This is a light cloudy deep dark chestnut-red one with a nice almost creamy looking medium sized top. On the nose itís both spicy with caramelized pickled ginger, sweet caramel, and hoppy with a nice dark fruitiness. It smells almost a bit Christmassy, and definitely interesting. Itís somewhat average on the carbonation and it has a soft oily mouthfeel. More bitter than I would have imagined. Dusty straw, traces of licorice, dark slightly burned bread and a bit medicinal in the finish. Loads of things going on in this little puppy. Bitter, zesty and lingering slightly burned spicy aftertaste. Iím not quite sure, but I think Iím starting to enjoying this. 23.12.2012

Poured from a 12 ounce can thanks to lukaduke. Love the can. Pours a semi-hazy amber color with a a large, velvety head of beige foam. Very good retention. The aroma has a good bit of rye influence with a nice citrusy hop profile. Taste has a fruity sweetness with a nice orange peel bitterness riding atop a mellow oaky note. Bitter on the back of the tongue.

Bottle. Pours a deep red with a 1/2 inch of fluffy head. Aroma is spices and hops. Flavor is Christmasy spices, some bitter hops and some fruit and bread in there as well. Not my kind of beer, but its well done.

Pours hazy amber into a shaker. Off-white head with good retention recedes leaving spot lacing. Resin and spice aromas. Full with sweet caramel and resin upfront turning dry in the vegetal spice finish. Becomes a little harsh as it warms.
