COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As days get shorter and sleeves get longer, Baxter Brewing releases its fall seasonal, Hayride Autumn Ale. A generous portion of two rye malts give the beer a full body, bready flavor, and subtle spiciness; while toasted malts provide a touch of sweetness and a rich, almost reddish hue. New Zealand Pacifica and Pacific Jade hops balance Hayride’s maltiness and suggest notes of oranges and tropical fruit. Finally, we cold-condition the beer on oak, with light additions of ginger, black pepper, and orange peel, bringing out the spiciness of the rye and rounding out the soft sweetness of the beer. Hayride will give a touch of warmth for those cool fall nights, while remaining deliciously drinkable.

12oz can into a switchback pint. Pours a dark orange brown/red with decent foamy head to cover. Aroma is spicey, bourbon aged, and malty. Taste is spicey, excitingly so as there seems to be so much bouncing around, as is the pepper, citurs, oak charateristics, and the hop presence. Almost too much though for a harvest, I dont think I was ready for all of this. But after endulging this seems to be just fine by me. Baxter is one of the next up and coming micro brews out of Maine. A fine brew here.

[5663-20130816] Can. Mild lemon Pledge cleaner aroma. Hazy, orange body with a quick foamy white head. Lightly bittered resiny hops flavour. Medium-full body. Average. (6/3/6/3/13) 3.1

Can. Dark amber. Spiced citrus aroma. The taste adds toast, sweet malts, orange, black pepper notes, and a citrus resin on the finish. Pretty complex overall with a medium rich mouthfeel. Interesting. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can. Clear ruby with a 1 finger beige head. Aroma is ginger, citrus and tropical hops. Taste follows but adds prominent spiciness, toast and vanilla oaky notes. Medium smooth mouthfeel with little carb. Tasty and well balanced but there's a little too much going on.

From the 12 fl. oz. can. It pours medium amber with a long lasting cream colored, foamy head. Aroma of roasted malts and earthy or floral hops bit neither takes over the other. Medium body. Same type of taste with maybe the slightest herbal bite. Very much like a standard pale ale.

Can at the cabin in NH. Pours murky, red-brown with suspended yeast floaties and a frothy, white head. The nose has rich brown bread, light nutmeg, some ripe orange. Light to medium sweet flavor with grainy brown bread, nutmeg, other spices, cinnamon, mild earthy bitterness. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Moderately sweet to finish with candied fruits, orange, dirt, grains, light alcohol. OK.

Reviewed from notes. The appearance has a dark red/brown colored body and leaves a three finger white foamy head that must last at least two and a half minutes. The body is too dark for any carbonation to be seen rising. There is some nice minimal spider web lacing here and there. The smell has some rye up front with a fair amount of malts combined evenly with the hops. The taste is basically the same leaving a slight dry aftertaste. The palate has a light to medium body and leaves a great feel on my tongue (nothing harsh, just right). Overall, this is another great beer by Baxter that I would definitely have again.

Caramel and spice aroma. Head has and orange tinge. Body is a hazy amber. Sediment can be seen floating around. Peppery feel on the tongue. Mixture of sweet and sour taste.

12 oz. can. Pours a hazy rusty orange with a lot of suspended particles/bubbles. One finger beige head with a bit of lace. Rich malty aroma with a hint of spice and a whiff of hops. Sweet flavor damped by rye with subtle hints of wood and tropical fruit. Some hop/pine bitterness with a full palate and a semi bitter finish. Lots of sub 3 ratings, but I loved it . Will be looking for it again.

12oz can @ Duckfat: This one pours a cloudy, amber color. There was a large frothy tan head on it. Almost no lacing. It has a nice nose. Spice, pine and rye notes. The taste is very good. Rye, spice, hint of pine. Perhaps a touch of orange and ginger. A touch bitter. Very Nice!
