Sample at Snallygaster DC event on October 13th, 2012. Really tasty berliner weisse, even though it’s so low in alcohol which is different to me. Brett adds a nice funk on top of the slightly sour beer.

Aroma is strongly lactic with a faint wheat note. There is also a light lemon note and a medium low barnyard/horse blanket character, but the lactic acid dominates. Pours a cloudy yellow straw color with a big, thin white head that quickly recedes but carbonation continues to rise to the top. No lacing or legs. Flavor is very tart and acidic. This is definitely one of the most acidic Berliners on the market. Nice citrus note with light wheat character. No bitterness. The mid palate and finish brings in the lambicus notes - moderate goat and horse blanket but the acidity wipes it away and it finishes tart and refreshing. Mouthfeel is medium light to light bodied with high carbonation. There is low astringency and low to no alcohol warmth. Overall this is an acid bomb, but its clean, tart and refreshing. The lambicus adds just a complimentary barnyard funk which makes this a much more complex Berliner. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A hazed blonde gose with a thin dissipating white head. In aroma, a sweet lemony mix with Brett, light cave mustyness. In mouth, a nice sour gose with Brett, light buttery notes, lemon, very nice.

Draft at The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours pale hazy gold with a slight white head. Light sour aroma. Med minus body. Flavor is definitely tart/sour. Lemony tart/sour. Finishes with a residue of sweat sox. Surely fits the style.

The initially healthy white froth promptly recedes to nothingness, leaving a typical hazy golden hue of champaingy effervescence somehow dying before culminating into a white tower. The nose is intensely perfumey for a beer with such a small built. The often times found in berliner weissbiers celery salt notes are there, plunging into a lemon universe where citric acid gives some room to acidity of a lactic nature, but of the rough sort. Pungent, extremely dry, almost astringent, it dries the palate out completely, depositing nature yogurt and fresh grass allusions into the mind and backing it up with the leanest of all mouthfeels. Vigorous tight bubbled effervescense. A lemonade of the complex and fairly rough sort, for acidity lovers, but no acetic allusions that I could grasp, so it’s not really harsh, but certainly intense and obviously surprisingly phenolic for a berliner, medicinal hints showing their nose behind the citrus showdown. I do appreciate its originality, but I have trouble throwing out the greatest scores at a light beer that I don’t find very drinkable.

Pours a very hazy grapefruit color. The aroma is that of a standard sour with a lot in the nose. The taste hits you fast as a very sour beer. Not my favorite, and hard to differentiate between any other sours I have had. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
