Commercial Description:
Huguenots may have originated the style as they traveled through France to Flanders, having first mentioned it in the 1600s. During their time, there were said to be seven hundred weissbier breweries in Berlin. Later, in 1809, Napoleon and his troops identified Berliner Weisse as the Champagne of the North. He requested the beer be served w/syrup to cut its extreme level of acidity. Bayrischer Bahnhof’s interpretation is a slightly softer, more mellow version of the “Berliner Weisse” style with a beautiful balance of tartness, fruitness, and sweetness.

an interesting light summer; it has the typical yellow hazy appearance topped with a moderate layer of white foam. the aroma is slightly sweet with hint of citrus. it has a fruity flavor but is pretty dry for a hefe, an overall enjoyable drink.

Pours a hazy light straw yellow color with a white head. Aroma is honey, wheat, grain, and some lactic acid. Flavor is honey, grain, sugar, and a bit of acid bite.

Delicate and short-lived head. Light aromas of green apples and wheat. Everything about this is subtle and light: body, palate, finish, overall complexity. The acidity is lighter than I would’ve preferred for this style. I love the reference below to "watery lemon juice" and would completely agree. Very average.

Thanks Ron, for sharing this one. This was not bad, somewhat thirst quenching. Slightly grainy on the palate, with high in acid again, with some acidic fruit presence. Mildly tart and sour, there’s just not much to this one.

11.2oz bottle. Pours a hazy, pale whitish-straw color; thin, off-white head with patchy lacing. Pleasant amounts of lightly tart citrus, wheat, and breadiness; a bit relaxed, but nice and refreshing and mildly tart. Medium mouthfeel: slightly watery, light palate: wheat, mild tartness, citrus and some mineral characteristics; reasonably tasty and refreshing, but not quite as tart / focused / dry as one might like; a little disappointing, and a little like lemony dish soap. Medium finish: lingering citrus and breadiness.

Pours to a clear plastic yellow colored body (when not swirled to release all the crap at the bottom of the bottle) with a temporary fizzy white head. The aroma is lighter and less tart than expected. Some lactic wheat. Tart up front with lactic acid. Then, that goes away and the strong pilsener or biscuit malt shines through. Subtle wheat characteristic that finishes light and crisp. Reminds me of watery lemon juice.

20070413 Bottle. Mild, airy stuff with terrific tartness that is not overly done, more fruity. Vapid, thin, great for session with simple, french bread malts.

Bottle shared by Blake. Slightly hazy light golden body, small white head. Lemon juice & sweet wheat malt in the aroma. Very light, clean and refreshing flavor. Light wheat malt, a squirt of lemon juice, finishing with some light minerals. There’s not much to this one but I enjoy the high-quality effort here.
