COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Huguenots may have originated the style as they traveled through France to Flanders, having first mentioned it in the 1600s. During their time, there were said to be seven hundred weissbier breweries in Berlin. Later, in 1809, Napoleon and his troops identified Berliner Weisse as the Champagne of the North. He requested the beer be served w/syrup to cut its extreme level of acidity. Bayrischer Bahnhof’s interpretation is a slightly softer, more mellow version of the “Berliner Weisse” style with a beautiful balance of tartness, fruitness, and sweetness.

Pours a slightly hazy, very light straw color. Aromas of wheat, lemon zest and a little sourness. Taste follows suit, very light, slightly sour, a touch of lemon, well carbonated. This is the perfect refreshment on a 90 degree day. Awesome beer.

Had this bottle at Sunset Grill and Tap, Alston, MA. Dec 18. 2010. Pours a hazy yellow/gold with frothy white head. Smells of tart lemons, hints of straw and residual sugars, some wheat hints. Tastes moderately sour with some underlying tartness. Watery as is expected of this type of beer. Lots of sweet wheat touches and some lemony hints. Finish yields some funkiness. Lots of sweetness with only touches of tartness. It makes me think of sour lemonade.

Thanks lance. Hazy straw white head. Aroma of wheat straw tart and lemon citrus. Lemon tart wheat malt thin watery body. Good solid Berliner but not as good as a Florida weisse.

Pours a pale fizzy golden color with a paperthin head. Aroma of apple cider and yeast. Taste follows nose, apple is forward and I'm not quite sure why. Still a refreshing and easy to drink. Not the best but not bad either ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

6/6/11.11.2oz bottle. Slightly hazy golden pour with a big fluffy white head that cuts to a ring fast. Light aroma of soft wheat, honey, grape juice, and lemon peel. Tart flavor of grapes that reminds of a nice quad in a way (but lighter obviously) with honey, green apples, and lemon peel. Not bad!

Bottle. Pours a clear light gold, almost straw color. Very bubbly throughout, and tastes very fizzy. Smells of honey, some earthiness. Taste isn’t as sharp as I hoped, but still a good bite. My girlfriend said it tasted a lot like honey.

Bottle - Poured pale yellow with a creamy white head. Smells sour and acidic with some citrus, honey, and white grapes. Has a dry apple taste with white grapes and nearly no aftertaste. Seriously, it just disappears into a asprin/mineral water taste. It’s way weird, but kind of cool, too. It’s dry in the mouth, very refreshing, and surprisingly medium-bodied. This is only my second BW, but I would love having one of these every time I finish mowing the lawn -- if they weren’t $4.99 a piece. (!)

Bottle courtesy of koelschtrinker - thanks. Pours hazy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is very nice. A mix of banana esters and lactic acid - citrus and yoghurt on top of bananas. And that's pretty much it. I like it. Taste is moderately sour, lots of lactic acid and yoghurt notes, immensely light bodied. Tastes a lot like Greeked yoghurt, just in water texture and with bubbles. But I like it. Not at all as extreme and sour as other (esp. American) berliners, but tasty and highly quaffable. Could skull several gallons of this if the weather is sunny. Also if it ain't. Fucken hell.
