Commercial Description:
Huguenots may have originated the style as they traveled through France to Flanders, having first mentioned it in the 1600s. During their time, there were said to be seven hundred weissbier breweries in Berlin. Later, in 1809, Napoleon and his troops identified Berliner Weisse as the Champagne of the North. He requested the beer be served w/syrup to cut its extreme level of acidity. Bayrischer Bahnhof’s interpretation is a slightly softer, more mellow version of the “Berliner Weisse” style with a beautiful balance of tartness, fruitness, and sweetness.

11.2oz bottle. Pours a hazy, pale whitish-straw color; thin, off-white head with patchy lacing. Pleasant amounts of lightly tart citrus, wheat, and breadiness; a bit relaxed, but nice and refreshing and mildly tart. Medium mouthfeel: slightly watery, light palate: wheat, mild tartness, citrus and some mineral characteristics; reasonably tasty and refreshing, but not quite as tart / focused / dry as one might like; a little disappointing, and a little like lemony dish soap. Medium finish: lingering citrus and breadiness.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy gold with only a small ring of head. Aroma of white wine and melon. Flavor is spicy/carbonation upfront followed by tart fruits and sour patch kids candy with a wheat/stale wheat finish. A nice level of sourness--sour but not too sour. Quite drinkable and delicious.

Bottle. This stuff is damn tasty. Aroma lightly fruity (apple, pear), sourness in the area of cider, some champagne as it rushes toward the mouth. Flavor is unbelievable, especially for 3%, tart, citric, wine, mild fruity earthiness, more apple-pear fruit, some lemon, grape. And wow is it delightful in the mouth, resting like a feather, tickling the tongue as though mildly perturbed by a breeze. If only it cost a touch less, I would no longer have need for water.

Bottle. Pours an opaque light yellow with small white head. The aroma is sweetish honey with some citrus tones and a little sassafrass. The flavor is both grainy and citrusy, with a soft acidic tartness. Some hay and biscuit notes come out once in a while. This is actually quite refreshing.

33cl botte from Willow Bend Liquors (Tampa, FL). Pours a hazy dark yellow/caramel color with a thin white head that diminishes quickly to nothing. Aroma is somewhat faint with wet hay and musty wheat notes. Some bread and yeast present as well. Flavor is tart with ripe fruit and tangy lemon notes. Light to medium body with a slightly sweet, slightly bitter finish. Interesting.

11.2 oz bottle. Clear straw with some floaties. White head fizzed up like pouring a Sprite, then was gone.Somewhat sweet nose, light, sweet lemon and granny smith apple.Light cereal flavors, lemony with a touch of green apple flavors. Mildly tart. Light, smooth and clean, it’s gone from the palate in a minute, leaving just a mild dryness. Not bad.
