Maria (6056), Thisted, Denmark Oct 2, 2008 Draught at the brewpub. It’s a black/brown beer with a creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, caramel and coffee. The flavour has notes of roasted malt, coffee, dry citrus and caramel. The body, balance and harmony in this beer is outstanding, and it’s the best schwarzbier I ever had, truly nice! I could drink a lot more of this stuff, than I did that nice evening in the beginning of September 2008, but the next morning I were glad I didn’t ;) Hildigöltur (5109), København, Denmark Jul 23, 2005 Draught at the brewpub. Almost black with a reddish shine. Malty aroma and flavour with apple notes. Sweet and dry flavour. Fruity and roasty finish. EithCubes (2140), Indiana, USA Jun 12, 2006 Tap in the Biergarten. Opaque dark, barely ruby under sunlight. Rich, full, lacing light brown head. Smells of coffee, toffee, and roasted dark malts. Great roasty taste, though it’s weak enough to warrant comparisons with a dunkel, and the around-the-edges taste reminds me of a washing machine. Don’t ask. Thicker than many Schwarzbiere, but true to style in the most important aspect - mildness. Velvety smooth, pleasant with a dull, long, and choco-coffee aftertaste. Touch of sourness adds a nice note. Indeterminate spiciness. Süffig! joss (3632), Garching b. München, Germany Sep 28, 2003 Sampled from 2L growler
Strong bitterhop, toffee and bitter coffee aroma.
Murky brown, big brown head.
Powerfull bitterhop start, a fitting charcoal middle (Heizer means stoker). Body is medium, dry bitterhop and coffee aftertaste. Mads Langtved (2246), Copenhagen K, Denmark Jul 31, 2005 Draught at the brewpub. Black appearance. Quite malty and acidic. Sweet malty aroma, with some roast. Dark borwn to black body, medium off-white head. Good roasty flavor, some sweetness, ends kind of dry. Very good Schwarz. rpattinson (83), Amsterdam, Netherlands Oct 7, 2005 Chicory, hop, coffee, grass and burnt aroma; bitterish taste with coffee, basil, grass and citrus aromas; a very long bitter finish with coffee, cream and malt aromas.
A very good espresso-flavoured schwarzbier. An excellent mixture of both hop and malt bitterness.
