Tap at Gingerman. What a strange beer. There is a strange yeast note, most certainly the brett, but it doesn’t feel like brett at all. Dry, dynamic, slightly slightly caramel body. Spoiled milk notes. It’s... ok.

Malty, breadlike aroma with toaster coffeebeans and some dried cherries. Flavours of coffee and chocolate and alsof some hints of oak. Dry bittersweet aftertaste.

Thanks to Bayerischer Bahnhof for the chance to try this beer. Beer in the glass deep black, nice brownish head. Intense malty aroma. Starts intense malty, quite roasty and dry, notes of bitter chocolate, also woody notes. Hints of coffee and liquorice. Finish more dry, spicy, still intense roasty-malty. Goes down warming. Very special beer!

"Lost 90% instantly with an immediate volcanic eruption when opened. F that. Gt an ounce and a half taster. Too bad. Doppelbock bready and porter roasty, dark fruit and mild Brett. Too bad I paid $4 an ounce."

Süßlich-karamelliger Antrunk, malzig-süßlich. Der Hauptteil ist malzig, dickflüssig. Im Nachgeschmack lang, holzig-karamellig, dabei mild-herb.

A parte che mi è letteralmente esplosa la bottiglia in mano quando l’ho aperta, ubriancando il pavimento e il tavolo al posto mio, ho avuto modo di apprezzarla. Complessa con le sue note di caffé, cioccolata e un leggero sentore caramellato, s’inalbera grazie alla sua lancia in resta di acidità senza compromessi. Appagante e ricca, un’invidiabile perla teutonica.

FDBK 2011. The head is ok, the body black. It smells roasty, dry, a bit salty. The taste is roasty, salty, special, bit coffee, interesting.

UPDATED: DEC 31, 2013 Goblet draft at Ginger Man NYC. Black body with tan head. Aroma is super bretty - way leathery, leather to the max. Behind that a nice earthy porter with light roast. Just so leathery and wild. Flavor is fruity and leather with a light fizzy finish with lots of tart juicy brett at the end. A real fun beer to drink.

330ml bottle, dark brown color, with a big frothy tan head, with a yeasty, subtle funky, bretty, dark dried fruit, chocolate, chocolate chip cookie dough, fudgey nose, with some molasses, chocolate, roasted, toasted malt, faint licorice accents in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, fruity, dark bitter chocolate, chocolate chip cookie dough, licorice, coffeeish character, with some molasses, mild chocolate, roasted, toasted, caramel malty flavours, leading towards a yeasty, chocolatey, light coffee, molasses, lingering roasty bitterness finish.

On tap at Bangers & Lace. Succulent. Rich but not too coffee-flavored like many porters. Tartness from the Brett adds a really neat aspect to the finish. Interesting and really enjoyable.

February 2011. From bottle. Dark brown with a beige head. Aromas if caramel, licorice, roasted malt and chocolate. Dry and bitter, thick and robust.
